Where can I get one of the timers for the subject light?

My light doesn't work, so I assume the timer is toast.

And yes... I checked the bulb. :P

do those plug into the map light and the time delay switch there? I haven't tried mine out yet.  I have not seen a repro switch yet, maybe a junkyard?
Over?! its not over until we say it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!...Hell no! and its not over now!..(Germans? Pearl Harbor?...shut up, he's on a roll)

I bought a couple of the new time delay round cylinders for the ignition light off of ebay
about 2yrs back no, I have searched ebay and can no longer find one for sale.
A year ago someone on this site said Napa can get them, well I tried that last year
and had no luck at all.

Is the same just without the mopar decal, and is original Mopar also... mine is the same above without the decal like the other I showed. Advantage of your pic Dan is a closer view of the prongs.

Those time delay flashers are actually THE SAME as the new Jeep Cherokees, so any actual Mopar dealer have them.

I looked up the part number on PartsVoice and found a few dealers with it in stock.

THe discription on BuyMopar says headlamp delay timer. I guess chrysler used the same timer for both?

I wonder if there is an updated electronic solid state version of this timer.

I should have clarified. MY '69 parts manual shows that same p/n for the ignition switch lamp. I don't have a '70 parts manual to cross check it.

Nacho-RT74

on 69 aparently was a rare option taht could be teh reason why specihy 70 and laters, don't know... 70 and laters are comon since is a regular bulb and socket mounted on column instead the blue circle around the dash ignition switch.

I don't think is the same time delay as headlamps since with that kind of consumption, the flasher would heat so quick that will cut power on around 2 or 3 seconds and even could blow up... courtesy ignition switch and seatbelts warning lights ( drove both by this flasher until 73... on 74 was only ignition light ) get lighted on around 8-12 seconds and is just two small bulbs.

From what I have seen and the Chargers I have owned I would say about 1/2 of the 68-69
Chargers came with them. More than 1/2 of the cars I have owned/or had have them, There
are still many people out there that don't evan know they are there, if they don't work a
person could easily not evan now its there. But if a 68-69 Charger has the light package they
would also have the ing key light.

ok, Nice... now why sellers say about that flasher to 70s and laters ? LOL... maybe just ignorance.

RECHRGD

Just the other day I had the '68 out for a drive and that damn timer almost burned the car up.  A buddy with more flexable arms than myself was changing out my IVR to a new electronic unit when he got burned by the timer.  The thing was almost red hot and was melting it's socket along with a wire that was touching it.  I took it apart and it looked like one of the bi-metal contact strips had gone bad and was making constant contact with the other strip.  I bought the thing at napa a couple of years ago.  I had given them the old unit to try and match up and as I recall the unit they sold me was for a 70's something mopar.  I almost never drive the car at night, so I just plugged it in and forgot about it.  I always disconnect the battery when not using the car, so who knows how long that thing had been cooking under there.  I consider myself very lucky that I just happened to decide to change the IVR when I did.  I've decided that the ignition light timer is an option that I can live without.    Bob

Probably not important now, but I can't find it on the diagrams. Closest thing to it is the map light diagram and it isn't on it. Does anyone know how or when these are supposed to work?

I borrowed a couple time delay relays from a friend and plugged them in. The key light is pretty damn cool now that I see it working. Does it have anything to do with the map light?

Do you mean for wiring or ordering?

I know its powered through the same harness, but I was wondering if it had a time-delayed feature as well as key light. Do you guys run your time delay ignition light setups? I read on here that a lot of people don't because they get really hot and have melted stuff in and around them. I'm on the fence with mine.

Yes, thank you very much. Those pictures are great. I used a couple pictures of one a guy on had ebay to rebuild my map light harness, but it is a little different than the harness you posted. Mine and the pictures I used had nothing for the forward light buzzer and didn't plug into the main harness. It just tapped into pink wire on the fuse box, went to the door switch, had a spot for the ignition time delay relay, and ignition light.  :shruggy: (I'm pretty sure the guys who built this site knew that I would eventually find it, so they made me very suiting emoticon)

Edit:

My map light doesn't work now whether the door is opened or not. Here's the final product:

Hello Mike, if you want you can e-mail me your original sized pic in this post and I'll try to make it appear larger in size so members can see what you're trying to explain.

I need to go over my wiring as well.  When I bought the ignition light to replace my busted one I bench tested it and it worked. The headlight buzzer always worked.  Once I installed the igniton light both stopped working.  Go figure!

That is such a kick in the pants. I've had similar happen to me, think you've got something fixed and it creates or uncovers another problem. Hope you get it figured out, though. I can't even find a diagram with a warning buzzer on it. I will keep my eye open if I find anything helpful.

Heck of a lot better. Of course I would never think of cropping out the extra crap haha. I'll take a better pic when I pull it back out of the car. I just can't get the map light to work. Not sure if you can see how I wired it, but to my knowledge it's wired just like it was in the photo. I know it worked before, but it was Franken-wired in there. I'll go mess with it today. First and foremost, there are no stupid questions. Secondly, the picture I took is very bad to begin with. Very sorry :(

1 This is the wire that goes to the door switch, and the main harness plugs into a little lead coming off the end of it.

2 Yes it plugs into it. it comes out of the relay plug and doubles back in the same direction. Should be yellow but I didn't have any yellow ends.

3 No the yellow comes from the light side, off of the plug with two yellows coming out of it. At least that's how I read it from the photos from eBay. But then again my ignition light works and my map light doesn't haha

Is the light warning buzzer thing an option that all cars came with? I got nothin like that on my car.  :ahum:

Edit,

I think my new dash harness came with the plug for it. It's a yellow plug coming off the far left side of the dash harness, right behind that Tach or clock?

The time delay was the same up through the late 80's.  Dodge trucks and vans had them - right in the fuse block on the 150 trucks.  Looks the same, round w/ 3 terminals.

warning buzzer  , is part of the A01 light group package/ option  ,  which the ignition lamp is part of ( not sure if you can get the ignition lamp as a separate option )  :shruggy:

there are two yellow plugs / conections on the  left side of the dash harness  , one is a  , male bullet connector , that's  for the door pin switch ,  the other with a double yellow female spade terminal  ,  as mentioned in above picture J ,  is for the head light on warning buzzer only !!  , that  wire  you mentioned ( TACH or Clock , is gray in color  , & is the power for the clock , the tic toc tach wiring is not part of the dash  harness , as its a  factory option .

Ok I see. So mine most likely had it and Satan (guy who owned my car before me) must have ripped it out.

Oh right, Yeah I understood that the grey is for clock and the tach harness is separate. What I meant to say was that the plug for the warning buzzer is behind the tach or clock in location on the harness. Someone on ebay has a warning buzzer harness for sale but its pretty beat and kinda pricey.

I actually did have double pin switches. Thought they were wrong, but after the last couple of posts I see that they were probably supposed to be there. I have since swapped them out for the single pin ones. Maybe that's why my map light doesn't work? Either way, I think I'm gonna get rid of my A01 stuff.  seen them for sale on ebay  from time to time  , think  they might have been repoped , not 100 % sure though ..... ,

shame you cant get your map lamp to work  ... did you run the yellow from the  map lamp to the door pin switch , then from pin switch to the yellow from the main dash harness with a male bullit connector ?

I did not. Is that why I couldn't get it working? I am very bad with electrical. Probably the worst  :D

below  picture is  how I remember the yellow wires running ,  I would take my kick panels off & glove box liner out &  show you exactly what goes where  , but ! when I replaced ( made ) all the yellow A01 light group wiring , I  altered it from the  factory  lengths & routing &  tapped it up  / wrapped it in its own harness ,  ( as factory is just like spaghetti  behind the dash  :P )   so with out  taking the dash apart and un wrapping all the harnesses  , I cant really help any more sorry .

its pretty straight forward though ,  if you have all the  factory harnesses , with the connections  , like what I named in the first lot of pictures I posted

Tan Top, you are the man. Thanks for the diagram! I guess mine was pulled out at some point. I didn't have the relay or any of the right stuff other than the two pin door pins and their connectors. I may try to Frankenstein one together but I noticed the buzzer relays are pretty pricey. Am I looking in the wrong place? On eBay they were going for $50-$60. The wiring layout looks pretty simple too and I located the connector coming off the main dash harness. I think other than the door pin connectors, the only other connector I need is the warning buzzer, so that shouldn't be too hard to find at a salvage yard or the internet.
