I change my vote...is it too late for CLASSIC-CHARGER.com?

I'm really not going to be quiet about this... It's going to get out of hand and many members are going to disappear if it does. This site isn't about the '06 Creeder, or any new plastic car for that matter. I still have the artwork for Classic-Charger.com and I am serious about the name change. Go ahead and like the car, but this is NOT the place to discuss it. I am here because I like OLD cars...REAL Muscle cars. I hate new cars...and I'm sure many here agree. It was 70% here who disliked the Charmagnum... did everyone forget that? Classic-Charger.com was the TOP name choice before DodgeCharger.com became available (who's idea was that anyway?) This isn't a flame against the Pig-nosed Gallant throwback Creeder so much as it is a REMINDER what this site is about and was intended to be. Say whatever you like, but I WILL NOT agree with allowing Magnum Sedan discussion to become a mainstay here. There are boards for that...go there.

Actually, now that I think about it, maybe we DO need a dedicated '06 section in the forum. ANY thread pertaining to the '06 crap goes there....PERIOD. You post outside that area and even whisper "Creeder", "06", "Charmagnum", etc... your thread gets RELOCATED there. That way we could all AVOID even seeing any of that idiocy, and those who want to participate can have a hay day. Now, I would RATHER that we DO NOT allow this garbage here, but if we must and Troy feels like giving into the lunatics, then give them their OWN asylum to run...so that all of us SANE members can freely discuss matters of IMPORTANCE and REAL cars.

BTW: This new forum section should be CIRCULAR in shape and I would like a FLUSH button on my browser to use whenever I see fit. (now if I could only find the FLUSH smiley I'd be happy)

DISCLAIMER: Much of the TONE of this thread is tongue in cheek and sarcastic, but the basic premise is REALLY how I feel. No need to take offense at words such as "lunatics" or "crap" or "idiocy"...I'm trying to get my point accross as clearly as possible. THIS IS NOT A '06 CHARGER discussion forum. In fact, please note the CARS at the top of this design.

I feel your pain Bill. Maybe the easiest solution would be a section for the 06 charger. After a while all the new 06 owners would realize what their missing when they check out the real Charger sections.

Everyone says the classic Charger and the '06 are apples and oranges. This is an apples site. The oranges should be kept elsewhere.

Yup..too late the train has already left the station

Really I haven't noticed that many '06 people ???

So, does this mean that the members with the 80s Chargers and the Cordoba Chargers won't be welcome, anymore, because they aren't lucky enough to own a REAL Charger? :eyes:
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

I want that test site Bill!!!  Great work.  It'd be cool if Troy could use it if he'd want to  :)

That layout looks GREAT.   Seriously, I agree with having a section about the new Charger.

it is not that they will not be welcome, it is just that this forum is not geared to the cars in which they own.  Anyone can post here (like I am speaking for troy or something LOL), it is just that the information that you may find here may not be suitable for the project that they are focused on.

Bill,  I like them thar graphics, I am a post whore according to you though hehehe :D  (which is probably not too far from the truth)

??? I think you're a bit confused.... that is the new version of this site but it's not finished.

As for the New Charger stuff, we've never really been "the place" to hang out for Magnums and 4th or 5th gen Chargers. The topics do come up on occasion and are generally handled pretty well (just like many other Mopar topics). Although there are many discussions about newer cars, I don't plan on catering to the "New" Charger at all because, honestly, I don't have the time or motivation to read about them. I'd be more willing to start a new site specifically for them (with mods that actually care about the subject) rather than add more to this one. I know that right now this is strictly a forum but there really are other parts to the site. Once the frontend of the site is created it should be more obvious to casual observers. You guys voted on the name but no one voted on the content of the site. It's been a pain in my rear though and it isn't changing.

As for the attitudes and hostility it's going to stop. I really don't care what you think of the new one or why. It doesn't give you the right to treat new members with disdain or to openly insult them. This site has grown because of the fact that it's a great community and people are willing to help. Some members here are starting to sound like the elitist jerks are car shows that I can't stand. It's one of the reasons I dropped out of the car scene for so long. The previous D-C.com site and its members are a big part of why I'm excited about cars again and I would hope that there are more people out there who can benefit from this group. Acting like a bunch of schoolchildren isn't helping anyone's opinions of us (especially if many members stay in the wings and don't comment). Yes, I'm partially to blame for not setting some guidelines earlier but I have had other things on my mind. As usual, if you don't like the topic then don't bother reading. That's the best advice I can give. If you can't act civil to others then your posting privileges can and will be removed. Always remember that this forum is public and that not everyone who reads a particular post will respond but they will form an opinion of this site and its members.

FYI - I don't deal well with demands and I'm a bit tired of people telling me what they think I should do. Constructive criticism or advice is always welcomed but most of the time when I get an ultimatum I'm tempted to let the individual follow through. I'd rather not lose anyone but I'm mostly tired of my inbox being full of whiners, complainers, grade school bickering, and rude people in general. I can do without that garbage so threatening to leave isn't much incentive for me to act. Most everyone here is a grown up so act like it and learn to get along.

That was my rant for this week so, other than that, have a nice day!

PS. If you haven't learned to pick out the important parts of what I write then send me a PM and ask what I meant. If you think anything I wrote was directed at you in particular then ask before you get bent out of shape. I merged a whole boatload of thoughts into one post and it's not directed at any one person. I think I need this as a disclaimer... :P
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Can general discussion be split into 2 sections ?
1 section for 74 and earlier Chargers
1 section for 75 and later chargers

I know the 75 and later will probably get only 10% of the total, compared to the main focus.

Another board I frequent is a mustang board - they have it split out for ; early mustangs, mustang 2's, 5.0 fox body mustangs, 4.6 mustangs, special service mustangs , etc.

Not sure how hard it would be to manage- we do have about 5 subdivisions of street and race tech, etc, already.
people are too polarized on this subject of real and not real. D-C made it . they called it a charger. they invested the cash for tooling, labor, R+D, dealers, etc.
Not you, not me. They can call it what they want.
Until board members form and finance their own corporation, buy the name rights for the "Charger" automobile from Daimler-Chrysler, and produce our own car...
Thats going to be the situation.

Just my 2 cents. Why do people keep forming topics about the new charger? Its beyond obvious that over 70% of us who log in here everyday dislike the new style. WE can not change what it has become. I'm not saying for the record that I like the new design myself, I'm just saying that when a new member signs on here, how long are we gonna bash him or her for owning something that we all don't? Not all of us can afford a new car or truck, I bet a small percentaige of us can as well. What my point is here is that I've noticed that I myself have gotten caught up in some of the rediculous topics and made comments, even when I shouldn't have, unlike this time cause its worth every penny I'm saying this time. All I',m getting at is stop and think about what it is your gonna type before you hammer down on somebody who comes in here new or old timer. Tempers fly, some are pissed some don't come back for a while or again at all. Take this for instance, durring the 9/11 attacks, we in the USA were attacked by a Foreign country, we all came together then, why not now reguardless of what he or she drives? I don't mean to piss in your corn flakes but why keep starting a topic about the new charger?

Good question. Mostly it's a few trolls who like to stir things up. Until the recent couple of new '06 threads on General Discussion there's hasn't been much '06 talk here at all lately. Funny how those two new threads caused somone to decide to dredge up the old '06 opinion poll that's like four months old or older.

:iagree:

I think the car is one of the ugliest on the road now, so I could care less about it. I dont even bother reading ANYTHING on the board that has '06 in the thred title. Or on the supposed new '09 Challenger ::) I DO TOTALLY AGREE WITH TROY ON THIS TOO.......................................................................................................................................................................................

Troy does all the work...I only did the visual part. Once I'm done, he will carry on doing all the work, and I won't have to do anything. Troy deserves all the credit here....

BTW: Thanks guys, glad you like the design.

Very nice job Bill.  ;)

As for the 06 stuff, I agree it has been over the top lately. I shouldn't click on it, but like a train wreck I gota look.
The troll thing is a problem with public forums, can't police it. But just think of this "Golden rule" and it will go away.

Might as well get used to the 06 Charger it's not going away, and it won't loose 2 doors anytime soon. I have a sneaking suspision that if Mercedes Benz would have made the 06 Charger with 2 doors it would have more fans on this site.

Andy, how could you not believe in the product?

It is a car and it gets people from point A to point B - true?

You should be able to say anything to anyone.  I have always thought the golden rule was:

It is not what you say, it is how you say it.

I'm talking about only the Trolls, it doesn't take a super genius to pick one out.

Troll noun:

An electronic mail message, Usenet posting or other
(electronic) communication which is intentionally incorrect,
but not overtly controversial (compare flame bait), or the
act of sending such a message. Trolling aims to elicit an
emotional reaction from those with a hair-trigger on the reply
key. A really subtle troll makes some people lose their
minds.

Even this thread is getting highjacked.
