Ok, it's a 440 carb to pan  Not too sure on the exact specs, but here's what I do know
-G440 on the front pad, cannot remember what that means as far as the year.
-Stock stroke
-high compression (needs race gas even with aluminum heads)
-mechanical cam
-torker 2 intake
-stock forged crank
-MP aluminum wp housing
-Holley doublepumper carb
-Out of the box eddy heads

This motor runs a 10.40 in the 1/4 in a 4500 lb car (mid 60's 4 door fury with full interior) on the spray.  mid elevens on the motor.  It's been in this car for 6 years without a problem. motor is for sale by the owner at the shop that built it.  comes with the nitrous system also. It's currently in the car and running.  I heard it yesterday and it's really evil!!!  one of my best friends works at this shop and he gives this motor the thumbs up as far as build quality and such.

what's wrong:

milky oil, I was told it overheated at idle and just needs head gaskets
some more than acceptable end play on the crank.

I could get it for 1300, and I was thinking about just using the heads on my motor and selling off the rest. My 440 runs very nice right now,but I have been dying to get aluminum heads.

Part of me says that since all I am getting out of this is the heads, then maybe just buy heads and not be bothered with trying to sell off the rest.  then el cheapo in me thinks maybe I get lucky and end up with some really really cheap heads after I sell off the short block. carb/intake, aluminum wp housing, block, steel crank, pistons have to be worth something, no?

sounds a good  a deal  ....  strong  motor  can't really go wrong at that price  !
is there  anyway you can do a leak down  or compression  test  :scratchchin:   .. head gasket  overheat ally heads =   warped or cracked head  sometimes , at the very least they will need  skimming
Feel free to post any relevant picture you think we all might like to see in the threads below!

I am thinking the same thing. no way I am taking used 6 year old heads and bolting them on without a light mill, new springs/keepers, etc..
