I finely got full rear quarters for my 69 charger. I installed them but they don't line up with the center body line in the door, the bottom one lines up and the top lines up. So i measured from top body line to middle line : quarter is 9 inches
                                                                                                           door is 8 1/2 inches
Then from the middle body line to the lower line it is : quarter 10 7/8 inches
                                                                               door is 11 inches
Any thoughts what to check next? or what to do?
  thanks for the impute

Are the doors stripped or painted right now?

They are striped to the metal with etching primer in them, I have 3 sets of doors they all measured the same as the first door.

Ok. In that case you are going to need to move the style line with blocking. The style lines on these cars in faint enought that you can move them very easily with primer and a sanding block, and in some cases filler. It could also be done with heat and a body file.... but that in a lot more involved.

If they are full quarters,I'll assume they are AMD,of which I'm suprised they would be that far off,9'' to the door being 8 1/2'' ????Thats alot.

A half inch??  :o :o

That is a lot. I would have been on the phone with the supplier asking questions... before I installed them. You installed them, meaning they're welded in already??

Never weld quarters on without having your doors and fenders - hood lined up perfectly. then work your way back ,thats the only way to know where to hang the quarters. Its called sheetmetal line up.   sometimes people just get in a hurry. you have to usualy to put on and take off sheetmetal 2-3 times before everything lines up. then start welding.  REMEDY:   put your hood on fenders doors . strikers and try to align to quarters as good as possible. .   If the quarters are too far off . you might have to take them back off.     just a lesson learned  don't get discouraged.  ask for some help from a pro.

I had a guy weld on quarters 66 mustank fastback. without putting the rear lower valance in place.  I had to cut the valance in half and add an inch.  then the rear bumper had to do the same.

Good luck don't feel bad . but do it right  and don't be afraid to ask for help. its not as easy as it seems.

My AMD full quarters the bodylines are not all that great wavy in places  I am going to have to do quite a bit of work to get them right on a scale of 1-10 in my opinion I can only give the AMD quarters a 5 after receiving 3 pairs and all having very similar flaws I am not impressed with AMD quarters, at least it is a starting point, and yes as said you need to adjust your hood, doors and fenders before you weld those quarters on for good!
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Use about 5-6 layers of alternating colored tape. The two colors will let you see overlap easier. Then use filler (one half of the line at a time) and bring it back on line. Be sure to mask off for blocking too as this will keep it straight. Sand to the tape, prime, done..

I must say that  at least a full quarter is better than no quarter.  like for my 70 bee.   lord I wouldn't care if they were a little whacked out. at least Id have em.    take care general

garych11

no they are not welded on they are just screwed on along with the tail panel and valance and the window filler panel.
                        thanks for all the help

I must say that mine line up great as far as body lines go. I will take some measurements to compare to yours.

First thing to do before cutting off the old quarters is to rebuild the door hinges and then hang the doors so they line up with the original quarters perfectly. Then leave the doors in place and cut off and replace the quarters.
How is your gap on the lower edge of the door? It should be the same all the way front to back.
