Sorry CB, I know how you feel. I had to do that to my husky in July. That too was the hardest decision I have ever made.

CB, very sorry to hear this news and your terrible loss. This hits very close to home for me. We lost our little one at just 2yrs old. The pain goes away, but not the sadness. In a month or two, I would start looking for another pup. Trust me, Zaidan will help you make that decision, and you will love the new one just as much.

This is a nice place to visit and perhaps register. www.rainbowsbridge.com Say hello to Sophey from NJ when you're there.  :icon_smile_sad:

I remember when I lost a pet a few years ago it hurt real bad. Someone sent me this. It may seem sort of mushy to some, but it did make me feel a little better when I read it.

"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... "

You have my thoughts and prayers, CB.

It's never easy, but you have eased his pain and given him peace.

May his memories and love give you the same.

Sorry that you had to make that choice.
My dog has been with me through girlfriends, moves, cars, etc
Your dog had  someone to love him for 5+ years, that is more than most animals get.

Make sure if you get a new dog in the future, to throw a blanket over the passenger or back seat of your Charger and take him for a ride every so often.
When I pull the car cover off the "Super Coupe" , Wolfgang [my dog] always gets excited because he knows he gets to ride in that old car !

Sorry to hear that CB.

My dog will be 10 in February and has been fine until this Spring when she hurt her knee.   She just doesn't look too well anymore and it sucks seeing them like a pup one day and like an old timer the next.   :-[   Dogs are better than most people these days...

Today at 14 pm I took him to be cremated.

I bid farewell to my best friend, kissed him for the last time and then I knew, I will never see him again in this life.

I feel a hugh emptiness now that he is really gone.

Zaidan, you are my true and only friend. I love you so much. Please stay with me and wait 'till we are back together. Much love. Your 'boske'  :'(

How humane of you, is in your world 'dog' another name for 'car' ?  ;D
Come on Silver, you didn't really mean that did you ? The last thing CB is thinking about is getting another dog right now and the critter would never ever be a replacement.
I'm sure your wording wasn't what you meant to say right ?

In all so no the lost of my best friend. I lost Red Sonya March 12th 2002 and still cry when I think about her.

Sonya was a Irish Wolfound. I saw my first Wolfound when I was 16 and wanted one for ever. I final had a house and fenced in yard and it was time. Went to a breeder and sat down in a pin with Wolfhound puppies. They all want to be played with, but Sonya, she knew she found her new Daddy. She was all over me and cried when I got out of the pin.

We lost Sonya in a matter of hours, there where no warning at all. Which in many respects was a good thing. It her heart as well, but she hung on to all of us could get to the vet to say good bye.

I all so had Sonya cremated, had her ashes put in a stuffed dog. She as her own dog house next to my bed. When I really miss her, she sleeps in bed with me like she use to.

I to, look forward to the day we meet at the bridge.

I'm sorry you've lost your friend, CB.
I've been there too many times myself though the years, and it's never easy.

I wish you the best.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I lost Rowdy on July 11th. It is a little easier, but I think of him everyday still.

Ken, thats a great thing you did for your friend. I had the option of cremation, but at the time, I was so broke from all the vet bills that it just wasnt an option for me. I went weeks without much to eat so I could buy his very expensive meds, but Id do it all over again.

I did think about adopting another Husky, but I just cant do it right now. CB, you will know when its time to get a new friend.

CB

I won't be keeping another dog or other pet.
