super comps are suppose to be a race header. They are suppose to be thinner and lighter and they have equal length tubes. Ive heard a few horror stories from some buddies running them in Pontiacs. I have not used them personally. I was looking into them but decided to go with Dougs.

I run the Super Competition headers on my Hemi. They are not the best quality headers, not even close to the high quality and fitment of the TTi headers.

what is the difference between these two?

I am pretty sure that the Super Comps are 2 inch primaries with 3.5 collector while the Comps are 1 7/8 inch primaries and 3 inch collector.
I just purchased a set of brand new ceramic coated Hooker Comps and they are 1 7/8.

I am still waiting for my block to get back from the machine shop. When I install them I will definitely give a report as to how they fit. I have heard numerous times that TTI headers or exhaust arent a perferct fit either all the time.

ya I know TTI's are the best but at $800+ I cant afford them right now. Hookers are pretty much next step down from them.

Actually no.

Thorley headers would be the next choice, they are preety much the same as TTI's but cheaper.  :Twocents:

I can get 1 7/8 tubed c/coated comp hookers for less than that. Ive bought set of hooker comps and sold it to my buddy long time ago when he really needed them. He hasn't had any problems with them ie installing, clearance issues. Only thing he didn't get is c/coating.

Yes and they have thin flanges and are more prone to leaking as a result......My suggetion at this point is for you to settle for the less expensive , less quality header and have fun with that. :D

I can tell you my comps were a little tricky getting them in the Charger.  Got them in but you have to be creative.  Had to bend the drivers side collector as a whole towards the center of the car.  Passenger side collector was better but one down tube is currently resting the torsion bar.  Have not dinged it yet but that would be the only cure.  My advice, save your momma don't know money, and buy TTI's.

I installed the Hooker Super Comp headers on my 71 Super Bee. A tight fit, had to dimple them for steering box clearance, and shift linkage clearance. The new ones have thicker flanges than my last set. I had them coated since the tubes are thinner than the regular headers.

Silver R/T

does it affect header fitment around torsion bars if your front end is low/high? Also with thinner flanges as long as you have good gaskets you should still be able to get a good seal, am I right?

My new ceramic Hookers have thick flanges. I had a used pair of Thorleys on one of my old Roadrunners and they didnt fit very well at all.

I have bought two sets of hookers in past years and sold them. They looked like a quality product. Ive seen TTI's installed also and they both looked fine to me. Let me know how they fit once you install them.

Well I just hung new satin black Comp headers on my 72 Runner and well those are a pain to put on and I've noticed to that they hang real low to the ground. So your saying for Comp headers you need a 3 inch collector for what I got? Also I'm just running off just headers so I love it  :2thumbs:.

super comps suck with fitment. I have a pair on my 69 and has a 440.

The Comps work better with a straight plug head. For that matter so do the Supercomps. If you plan to upgrade to an angled plug head in the future (Edelbrock/Indy) just do yourself a favor and order a set of TTI's  :Twocents:
