hello charger forum
i know this might sound a silly question ,i have a 68 charger #matching (not that it matters to much) but i rebuilt my 904 auto with  stage 1 kit(a little stronger)and the 318 now is about to shitit self , my question is can a new 5.7 hemi  bolt straight up to this auto , i know there will be different other things to change , but the main thing is can i just  fit the engine to this auto , or do i have to get a 727,tail shaft and so on ,i am not going to race or quartr mile this car justdrive and enjoy, any info would be appreciated
can you help thank you

:rotz:  you really need to upgrade to the 727.  :yesnod:
that 904 ain't up to the weight of the car or any more torque...
i think there are several other things your gonna need to take into concideration besides...

i totally understand that it is not big enough but i only have enough for the engine so i was going to fit engine work out bugs and drive while i save the money to get the 727 and other parts to do so, so my question is
can the 5.7 hemi bolt straight to the 904,
and if it dies while saving for the other auto well so be it ,

the engine will bolt to the transmission - but requires a specific flexplate - this flexplate can be used for a 727 as well

The flexplate is also available from Mopar performance # p5153753, got mine yesterday. You also need to use a neutral balanced torque converter.
