Tomorrow I should be General Lee-less

A guy is buying my '69 and should be picking it up tomorrow. I am kinda glad because it gives me the funds for my '71 stroker motor, but sad because I really don't want to see it go. The bank sent an appraisal guy over and he gave it the thumbs up. It's gonna be really weird not seeing orange on the far side of the garage.

On the other hand, it will be kinda nice seeing yellow over there on a daily basis. And when my stroker gets done, I probably won't miss the 440 that much. :D

I will have to take pics of it driving away tomorrow. :'(

On a funny note:While the appraiser was here, a lady came up and said that they would love to see the General at their car show on June 7th. The car show is put on by Corvette Specailties here in town. I get to rub that into my wife for a few years. She has a '79 Vette. :icon_smile_big:
I told her I would let the new owner know about it.

Man I totally respect both of those cars but I think I would have to go with the '71 as well.  It's hard enough to keep one car up, I cant even imagine having to keep up with 2 Chargers.  You cant really go wrong with a yellow 71 Bee.   :2thumbs:  Definately get a few pics...

General_01

Thanks '73. Here are a few pics. I followed Richard, the new owner, home with some extra parts in the pickup. He is a true Dukes fan and will take good care of the car. He lives about 5 miles from me.

So I'll still get to see it at Anoka?  Sorry to see it change hands, but it's probably good to have the money.  I still remember seeing it at the DQ in Madison with your dad.  So does your screen name change now?

Fitz73Chrgr

Glad to see it went to a good home.

Yeah it sounds like his new owner will take care of him.  Now to concentrate on that 3rd gen...   :D

Only 5 miles away huh?  That would be REAL tough for me to handle......the car would have to go at least 2 states away for me not to have to see it at my local car show :rotz:

Yep. Richard has quite a bit of Dukes memorabilia. He also has quite a bit of stuff from other shows like Knight Rider, Starskey and Hutch, Hardcastle and McCormick, etc. Some pretty neat stuff. He was kind enough to let me see it when we took the General to his house.

I agree.  I have 3 finished cars, and if any one of them were to be sold, I wouldn't want it anywhere near me because if I ever saw it again, I'd be kicking myself in the ass for letting it go.

I love that 71' Bee of yours!  I thought I was talking to your dad at the Charger picnic a couple years ago and I thought he told me that he bought it from you or something. ???

He and my mom kinda did. I was going to sell it when I got the General, but really couldn't bring myself to do it. My mom asked how much I needed so I could keep it and then loaned me the money. The car was collateral. They wanted me to keep it. My mom loved that car. She passed away in 2003. One of the many reasons I don't think I will ever sell the car unless I have to. Thus, the General is gone.

My dad can't wait to see the Bee on the road again. The first long trip with the car will be up to see my Dad and take him for a ride in the car he helped me work on for years. :yesnod:

Wow Dean I had a brief moment there when I realized "generally less" was the state of my economy too.  I just got back from the gas station.

Is your Bee painted gy3?  That has to be my favorite color for '71.  Good choice in keeping the '71.  :2thumbs:

I was initially worried when I sold my blue car cause it went to a good friend, but I knew he was full of shit when he said he was gonna keep it.  He actually asked me if I cared about him taking it to a show up in Seattle we were all going to.  $49k helps make a person forget plus now the car is in PA.

General_01

To be totally honest, I do not know what the color is. No fender tag or build sheet. I had the car painted in 1989 and told them to paint it the same color. The guy never told me what the color was and I never asked. I just wanted a cool color. I beleive it is Citroen Yellow because sometimes when you look at it, it has a green tinge to it. All I know is I like it and whenever the car gets repainted it is going to be repainted the same color.
