I prefer to keep mine half open.....    It lets people notice the 6 pack hood and keeps the overly inquisitive from getting all in my business.

As for photos... I'd prefer hood closed.    Sometimes people ask me to close the hood....  and other times some folks think it's their own business to close it themselves  :icon_smile_angry:

I'm thinking about drilling holes in the hood hinges to put some pins through to hold it at my preferred angle.   Wish I would have thought of that before I had them powdercoated.  :P

Then you will get guys trying to shut your hood and bending it in half.  :eek2:

It's fiberglass w/ steel reinforcement at the sides and front.   Bend? I dunno...  probably crack something... yeah   ::)

I just saw some "remove before flight" flags on ebay that could easily be put on the clips  :coolgleamA:

Opened partially never made a lot of sense to me either.   :shruggy:

I prefer seeing the cars closed, especially when taking pics, but I know if someone has a lot of time & money invested in their engine they want people to see it. Maybe the distance the hood is open is proportionate to how much time & money was spent on it.

My friend with the 2 Superbirds stays in his car since he's a quadriplegic. He likes to see the other people & the cars going by while he's there. Another friend of ours always opens his hood for him to show off the engine bay, especially on the six pak car that has the original engine. As soon as he walks away, my friend asks me to close the hood so he can see what the hell is going on.

BTW, that Coca Cola Charger looks great.

That Coca-Cola Charger looks neat. I like the filler cap. Nice touch. Wonder if he made it himself or paid a shop to do it?

(Actually, after I posted I remembered the rims. He probably had the shop make the cap.)

As much as I hate when people are condescending towards me, that's cool your buddy still is involved in the hobby.  Quads are all different, can he drive?  The first and foremost activity I wanted back was my ability to drive.  First thing we worked on.

Years ago I did the half hood open gig on one of my cars.  Why...it was too damn dirty.  Of course there's always a few others' with worse engine bays but I'm picky.  I've only did it a few times as nowadays it's a priority to have a nice engine bay.  If the wheels and tires are shining along with the engine bay, it takes focus off the rest of the car.  ;)

I am diggin that Coke Charger. I hope somebody has more pictures of this car. If so, please post them. I would like to see a complete side shot, the built in trunk cooler and the engine bay.  I will be on the look out for that car at Carlisle and the Nationals. Hopefully it will be at one or both. Anyone have details about the car or the owner? :2thumbs:

Maybe they have the V21 hood performance treatment and want people to focus on that.
yet need to have it cracked a little so the judges can take a quick scope at the motor for judging purposes.

This would be my guess. :shruggy:

I usually open mine about half way so people can see the engine compartment as well as the Air Grabber and hood treatment. I think it looks better than full open anyways.
Cracked open?? Don't understand that point.
