Anyone else see the ending to the high speed pursuit today in Maple Ridge? The truck finally came to a stop after intentially ramming a police cruiser. After the truck came to a stop someone from the truck took off running. Seems the police REALLY didn't want the guy to get away, the police SUV rammed the guy and bounced him off the winshield, the guy hit the ground and was immediately swarmed by 40,000 officers

If you click the video link you can watch the early coverage that was taken from the Global 1 chopper this morning. The truck's tires were blown from a spike belt....

Semi truck? Shows you how dumb some news people can be. There is a big difference between a semi truck and a straight box truck. :rotz:

Funny...yes, but something tells me this is not gonna sit well with whatever lawyer decides to contact this guy. I'm sure he will be getting a nice settlement out of this deal.  :Twocents:

Why should this idiot get any type of settlement? He obviously ran for a reason, drugs, no lic. drunk etc... The cop that took him out had every reason to do so, I see your way of thinking now, you would have just drove next to him yelling, hey you, stop running or I'll stop my police car, un-buckle my seat belt and run after you for another 20 or 30 minutes, gees, get real. Criminals don't deserve crap except jail an execution.
Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

QuoteWhy should this idiot get any type of settlement?

He shouldn't, but he probably will. Lawyers are sharks, and I don't doubt one will figure out a way to make a profit from this.

QuoteHe obviously ran for a reason, drugs, no lic. drunk etc...

You know why he ran? I don't.

QuoteThe cop that took him out had every reason to do so

I didn't have a problem with how he took him out, but I will guarantee someone else will.

QuoteI see your way of thinking now

Let's both hope we never think the same way. You took what I wrote and completely twisted it. Not much of a surprise from you.

All I know is he ran from the cops for 25 minutes, endangered other motorists, rammed a cop car, ditched the truck on the highway and then started running.

Ok, I just did some searching.

They had a pretty damn good reason to hit him...."What he did say was he was going to go blow up a bridge and they'd never catch him".

MAPLE RIDGE -- A crazed, naked man stole a large transport truck truck and led police on a half-hour chase through rush-hour traffic after allegedly threatening to blow up a bridge.

Just before 6:30 this morning a nude man appeared at a Pitt Meadows farm, where he stole coveralls and a white 15-ton truck. "[People at the farm] confronted him, but he was acting so erratically that common sense prevailed and they just backed off," said RCMP traffic services spokesman Const. Dave Babineau. A call from the farm alerted police, who pulled the truck over on 203rd Street in Pitt Meadows. When officers approached the truck, the 49-year-old driver uttered a threat, Babineau said.

"What he did say was he was going to go blow up a bridge and they'd never catch him," Babineau said. Police backed off and followed the truck at a distance, because they didn't know if the man was armed or had explosives, Babineau said. The man drove over several police spike belts, made three U-turns on the Lougheed Highway and finally stopped after rolling backward down a hill on Lougheed near 232nd Street. He fled the truck and an unmarked police SUV struck the man in the road, sending him tumbling over the hood and off the windshield. Paramedics OK'd the suspect's release at the scene, but police took him to hospital for a check, Babineau said. Babineau acknowledged that it may appear the officer in the SUV deliberately hit the suspect, but investigation is needed to determine whether it was intentional or accidental. The man faces possible charges of dangerous driving, possession of stolen property and failing to stop for police, Babineau said. The man, who was born in New Westminster (police don't know his current address), remains in custody. "

New Westminster....hey! Thats where I was born :icon_smile_big:
