Up till now I've not purchased much on-line for various reasons,..
but now in an effort to save money I thought I'd do some on-line shopping so I'm wondering what you guys and gals use for the money transactions?...  :shruggy:
  thanks Dave.

Paypal is the easiest once you get verified or just sign up and use your credit card. Some sites have their own pay by credit card things....

...yeah, PayPal is good, but most sites that accept payment by credit card are secure...if your address bar goes yellow or lime when you go to the payment page, that means it's secure...or you can always look for the "Contact Us" link, get a phone number and call it in...

I always use a CC. Most online stores have some sort of secure order forms and if I still don't feel comfortable I call them on the phone and place the order.

PayPal is a last resort for me as I really just despise them. Plus, if I have a problem the CC has a well defined dispute resolution system in place which I have had to use! Something that is sorely missing from PayPal.

YMMV

I've been buying online for 9 or 10 years now, mostly all by cc, and haven't had one problem with internet security or ID theft or anything like that.  I do generally make sure to stick with more reputable sites like Amazon or major retailer websites, but I have purchased a few things from some random electronics sites that offer good deals.  Just make sure the site has a good rating with a pricebot like nextag or pricegrabber or whatever and you should be safe.

Strange, they have always been very prompt with emails, can you log into your account at all?

Brock Samson

You must be doing something wrong, Paypal was really easy for me to get set up with. At first, I was a little uneasy having them know my personal bank account info, but I've used them for maybe 5 years now & haven't had a security problem. :)

I have used Amazon too & am quite pleased with the service.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Check the "spam" folder. Unless, of course, you have emptied it since you signed up.

I use paypal as well, have for years. Been bitten twice on the EBay transaction and Paypal.  When I order something other than on ebay I call the place and order from a real life person.
One thing I would advise is never trust an email that a vendor sends you to log into their site(because someone might have phished and stole your info and spied and learned your habits, then created a fake email to send you and blammo, they got ya.
(example:  Eddie Bauer sends you an email for some shorts on sale, instead of clicking on that link and following it to the checkout and so forth.  Go up to your url and type in www.eddiebauer.com or whomever it is and make sure you get to the web site that way and then order.(I hope that makes sense) Ebay sends you an email to verify something don't link from your email, go directly to ebay on the url and check your messages, etc......
I have no problem calling a vendor and using my credit card either.

i use my CC a lot.. a lot lol, i generally phone the CC company beforehand and warn them that i am going to use it and tell them roughly what the transaction will cost. i also spend way to much time on then net and research the places i shop from before i give them my money, mostly just common sense etc.

I use the Paypal toolbar plugin for Firefix, it will generate a one time use Mastercard credit card number for each transaction, this works with sites that dont accept regular Paypal transactions, Paypal is linked to my debit card and checking acount. Never had a problem, I almost always buy online vs local retail and save a lot of money that way. Watch out for pfishing e-mails that appear to be from Paypal, never send personal info to a link in an e-mail.

I only can make it on line mostly. Just couple of times have made by phone... with summit and firmfeel.

then used secure form with bradnosparts and Mopar P&S

with Cass ( drdiff ) simply sent my CC info splitted in couple of emails

dunno remember how I made with campbell enterprises... I think also a form.

just one time never got the package and still dunno how to proceed. Seller acclaim he sent but never gave me tracking number

then couple of packages apparently missed too but still have to wait to get what I had in Miami storaged. Maybe is simply shipper disorder and they are actually there.

70% of my deals last year were made by ebay/paypal way.

BUT UNTILL NOW never a financial problem or scam yet. Will be hard to make a big scam with me thouight since my CC limit is just $500, so when I have to pay some bigger than that I have to make a deposit on my CC
