Well this ones been here since ive been a kid. I remember before he changed the cover me and my buddy would take turns guessing what car sits under it....finally one day the old cover ripped to shreads and came revealed a Tan metallic 68 Charger (might have been 69 cant remember). I've pestered the guy before but he said "Its not for sale" (that was about 3-4 years ago) and i now plan on asking him once again. It hasent moved in about 10 years and im tired of seeing it sit there. Will i buy it? Well if he gives it away ill sell my 73 and pick it up...If he knows its value ill pass the info along and see if one of you guys want to pick it up. Regardless ill try to get some pics and info on the car. For now all of you can see this one and eat your popcorn cause i dont know if im gonna get a better one for a long while.

My thoughts exactly when I see a car wrapped up like that.

Why not just try driving your Charger over there and simply talking to him about it? Tell him you love Chargers, you're interested in the car, and would just like to see it and be told about it. I'll bet he'd have more of a chance of opening up and letting you see the car/ potentially selling it to another Mopar guy.

FLG

Terrible, thats my plan. Im going to go there this weekend and try to find him, even if he dosent want to sell me the car at least let me take some pictures of it and take down my number if he ever decides to do so.

BTW its a 69   :2thumbs:

I love all years of Chargers each for different reasons, but equally. It's kind of like dating women in their 20's, 30's and 40's. Each can be totally different yet each have features that make them more desireable than the next model.
Under construction 1973 Charger SE/RT resto-mod.

FLG

Will do 69

Joshua, Dont get my wrong i love my 3rd gen...but i would also love to have a 2nd gen. I would never sell my 3rd gen for a complete project 2nd gen, but if this car is in drivable and just needs some TLC, id sell my car for it. But of course this guy would have to be giving it away.

So enjoy your popcorn for now guys, i have a Calc 2 final tomorrow but will take the charger out later in the day and start ringing door bells asking for the owner.

Im tired of seeing it rot there, and until i bought my charger i didnt care much...now its killing me.

Joshua

Hahaha....just givin' the 3rd gen guys a hard time fellas, they all say they prefer the '71's and up (because that's what they got), but when they find a '68-'70, the tune changes, hahaha.............all in fun guys....don't take me too seriously....I do like 'em all too.

But what are ya doing here FLG......get to KNOCKIN' on that door man!

Good luck.....

FLG

lol

I'll admit i like the 2nd gens more then the 3rd...i just cant afford one. But id love to have em all if i could.

Tomorrow i will be knocking...hope the guy isnt going to be a prick even if he wont sell. At least let me get the info for the registry and maybe some pics.

have you ever had luck with this approach? (Taking your charger to ask about buying another)  I am always debating whether or not to do it because I think if the potential seller sees mine, he or she might think  "maybe I will hold onto it and try restoring it" (therefore ruining any chance of getting a good deal) This maybe just me overthinking things though

FLG

Havent tried it yet...but i myself would be more likely to sell my car to another mopar fan rather then seeing it go to just "some kid" driving in a everyday car  :shruggy:

73charger528cid

hey Ive got a 3rd gen it makes a great street ride Ive owned a few early b-body mopars and must say from a handling and stopping aspect the 3rd gen is much better.
its to bad the factory choked the motors out and added a few hundred pounds but all of which is easy to cure.

THE CURE 528CID ,better gears, beefed up trans remove unnecessary weight a/c,iron heads intake and add nice fiber glass hood :2thumbs:

defiantly would,t sell it for a 2nd or a 1st or any other car I would just end up adding another car to the collection.

I would just have to park it next to my 1972 duster drag car project ;)

FLG

Nice 73 charger...I plan on doing a 512. Dont know if i would still sell it after im done though...but right now it might be an option, who knows...starting to get very attached to her  :scratchchin:

I have been unable to locate the owner but do have some news on the car. From what i can gather its a plain jane charger, 318, nothing "special" and he wants about 12k for it. Dont know the real condition, but i doubt its worth 12k or someone would have scooped it up by now. But i will keep digging and try to find this guy.

Well...I have an update.

So i was talking with a guy at our local cruise night. He got to talking with the owner and already made offers on the charger. The owner of the lot has a place in Cali, apparently he comes back here once or so a year and checks on the car (maybe runs it?) and then wraps it up again. Its truly a shame. Also its a plain jane 318 charger which dosnt make it any less a crime but atleast hes not doing it to a rare charger. So back to some popcorn until i save up the money and try to pry it from this guys hands.  :brickwall: :brickwall:

Thanks for the update.  I would just let it be and look for something else.  But then again thats how I lost a few cars.  I kept after a 57 Chevy conv sitting on a guys front lawn for years.  Finally I moved on.  I found out years later the dad let it go for 300.00 :brickwall:   I had a 57 Chevy Nomad for 7 years as a kid.  This other kid would stop by every year and ask me if I wanted to sell it? NO No No No,  when I was ready I bought a 68 GTO conv and just wanted to get rid of the Nomad.  Where'd he go :shruggy:  I wanted to move to move it so bad I was short of giving it away.

:popcrn:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

we need pics! let us help you see if it's worth 12k or to move on   :nana:
