I used DuPont I believe...

Anyway- Been making some head way on wiring up my Charger - I have spent hours wiring up the dash with my Painless harness...    Realized I am not going to use quite a few dash things - (washer, dimmer) - I need to spend several more hours in there making everything pretty and organized...

I still have yet to mount the A/C evaporator...    but that is not a HUGE worry of mine right now...

My Radiator and fans showed up...   I am VERY pleased with these...     dual core aluminum and plastic radiator with dual electric fans for a grand total of $230   :2thumbs:

I am going to fab brackets to mount the radiator sometime this next week or two - I do also plan to mount the A/C and get the dash in without issue - and get the rest of the glass in.

OK - I have two PCMs on the way for my 6.1L Hemi - one with a factory tune and one from B&G with their Stage 2 Tune...    :D

I also ordered my headliner today as well - I plan on installing this myself - a first for me but I figure it would be good to learn how to do. It is the only part of an interior I have not done before.

Got my 440 loaded up so I can drop her off tomarrow for some desperately needed $$$ for my project...     Should greatly speed up my Charger's completion date. I also now have more room in my garage   :yesnod:   One less 440 (still have a 440 block, 383 block, and a complete 383) - along with one less 4-speed (still got a freshly rebuilt one)...

If my back didnt get tweeked dicking with my 440 this morning I would be crawling around in my car trying to mount my A/C box...

Well - another update...   Most of my parts came in...     all the AN fitting I ordered along with some electrical connectors I ordered...       Also an assortment of A/C fitting came in along with the bubble-flaring kit so I can correctly crimp them.

For anyone that cares I found a pretty good source for the mopar specific electrical terminals (the Packard 56 style that do not use the folded lip for retention) - I found them elsewhere for $0.44 each - this place lists them for $0.068 each...     They also have the males at $0.103 each...     I ended up getting 300 females and 150 males for under $40.00 shipped to my door...    great resource for guys doing their own harnesses and plan on keeping the stock packard molded plastic connectors...

I am making good headway on my dash - I am bypassing the factory instrument dimmer (had issues anyway) along with the washer button, and hazards.  These things are just not needed IMO - The plan for this car is mostly shows and A LOT of driving.  I have never used the Hazard lights, dimmer, or washer in the years I have owned the car so away they go.   The dash right now is ready to go in - all the wiring is terminated to to the instrument cluster and the rest can be easily done in the car...   So now the only hold up is the A/C box - The fittings came in so that is the next logical project...

I am still waiting on my headliner to show up - I am pretty excited to install this thing - I have never done one but I figure it can not be too hard...   Should be here tomorrow or Friday...      Next weekend I should have the dash, A/C, and remaining glass in the Charger - Then the interior can be put back in.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get you some photos of recent progress.

On another note a friend of mine liked the progress on my Charger (he also has a 68) and he is wanting to do a similar swap but with an automatic...     We have the build done on paper and looks like I will be building him a 6.4L hemi with about 530hp...     I have already priced this build out and it is under the price of a basic big block build...     :2thumbs:        So I'll be sure to start posting pics of that project as I go - should be starting in a couple weeks.

One thing i learned when i put the headliner in my 68 (with the help of another member General_01) was that some jobs are better left to the pro's.  But from your project build here i'd say you are one of the pro's, so good luck.!   :2thumbs:

Headliners arent to hard to do, just take your time and get a bunch of small clips to hold the liner in place while you are doing it. Also make sure you have the 2 small bows that go by the rear window or else the liner will not look to good back there (ask me how I know) good luck, and the car looks awesome!

I was a headliner virgin on my '68 and it took me about 4 hours. He is right about the sail panel bows!  :brickwall: It is easiest with the winshield out of the car! IMO..

I figured - that's why I have not installed my front or rear glass yet...   I kept my old headliner with all the bows in it (so i know what order they go) - shouldnt be that big of a deal...

Well This weekend was not very productive on my car...   spent most of today working on my buddy's projects...   putting new head gaskets on his 528 Hemi and rebuilding a 4-speed...     very fun - D6 Factory Race Heads  :2thumbs:

Came home just not to grab some parts we'll need and low and behold my headliner and both my PCMs showed up...    one is stock and one has a B&G Stage II Tune   :D

Stage II tune should be nice  :yesnod:

This weekend looks like I'll be mocking up my A/C crap and getting that buttoned up...

Well - I ended up selling the 440 out of my Charger for some working capital...

Here's my dash - almost complete

A/C vents

Some preliminary wiring...      dont worry I'm going to clean it up before it goes in

Here's the dash frame again in better lighting...    Eggshell finish on the semi-gloss makes it look nice...     not correct but I like it.

What does a nice 440 like that go for these days if you don't mind me asking?   :scratchchin:  What I wouldn't do to have one myself.  Me has a 383 car.

Well noone is buying right now...    I sold that 440 from carb to pan with flywheel, bellhousing, and 4-speed for $3000.00

Sure seems like a good price to me.

Unfortunately you could prolly have a good portion of that money spent in a day or two.

What year was the motor & what all's was done to it?  What spline was that 4 gear?  Is that other 440 for sale?

Great thread.

Rolling_Thunder

The 440 was a late 1966 casting - 10:1 compression, 915 heads w/ 3 angle and porting, Forged crank, SFI balancer, Edelbrock RPM cam, HV oil pump, edelbrock 750, MP distributor, Taylor Wires, 4bbl intake, Edelbrock water pump...    nothing fancy - but s nice rebuilt engine...    The 4-speed was a 23 Spline unit with about 7500 miles on it after rebuild.

What other 440 ?  haha

Well not much going on in my neck of the woods...     lately...     Sold another mopar bellhousing and have a someone coming to look at my 69 Road Runner.   I just have my hands full with the Charger and the Satty...       I did trial fit the radiator and fan package and getting it mounted will be even easier than originally thought.  I started my new job today as well...     It is nice to be back working in a shop again (having income helps too)    :2thumbs:

Oh God - My duties...   I am back to turning wrenches...    I have no dealings with customers (except mopar customers apparently) and doing what I am told...     it is a welcome relief after being thrown into basically running the old shop without my boss....     This keeps it easy and simple - plus this place is paying more   :smilielol:

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

It sure looks like a fantastic project you have there :2thumbs:  Hopefully down the road soon, I'll be able to find a 6.1 for my 73.  what pcm's are you using?  I appologize if you meantioned it already.

No worries - I have a stock PCM that i will use for a couple hundred miles (to make sure everything works and get the bugs out) then I have a B&G Stage II Tuned PCM Adds about 45hp over the stock SRT8 rating...   plus headers, plus a Cold Air intake....    should hopefully be within spitting distance of 500hp.
