Spoke to PJ last night and he says the original decals are no longer available, if anyone knows different please let me know.

ACUDANUT

IMO, leave the decals on. That car is too awesome the way it is.  Forget the purist out there and remember...You car is 10 times better looking now, as to when it left the factory. :Twocents:

I haven't checked back on this thread for a while...great looking job on that car, it looks great!!

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Thanks for the kind words guys. Did any of you that were at Carlisle by any chance see the car at Paul jacobs stand and if so did anyone take any pictures of the car? I got the few pictures that PJ took but I was over here in Iraq when the car show took place. Thanks again.

First off that is a top notch restoration. Nice job Chris. I was wondering if the $2200.00 acid dipping was just getting the shell dipped or did that cover everything, (doors, hood, trunk lid, fenders) Also I was wondering how much it takes away from the thickness of the metal? How long are cars left in the dip tank? Is there a danger of acid being trapped somewhere in the car (such as the frame rail, between welded panels) that would later eat through the car? And again real nice car

Hey Troy

The cost covered everything to be dipped, all body parts. The acid does not eat the metal that I am aware of, but it does get all of the primer, paint, undercoating and rust. If I remember correctly I believe PJ told me that after the Vehicle is done in the acid that it goes into another dip tank to neatralize the acid, next time I talk to him I will him verify that. Hope that helps.

Hi Troy

The new chemical dripping process is different that the old acid etching days when racers used to chemically mill the thickness of the bodies for weight savings.  The new dipping porcess only removes oxidized metal, paint, sealers, gunk etc.  I left the two plastic torsion bar shileds on mine when it was dipped and the plastic came back clean ond unharmed.  After the car comes out of the dip the dip is sprayed with a neturalizer then throughly washed with high pressure water.  They then spray on a light coat of anti-rusting solution.  I agree with Chris that this is the best process for a complete restoration.
