Question - can a 426 hemi be installed from under the car ?

Yes.   That's the way the factory did it.

i remember reading somewhere that you have to take the valve covers off.

It also gives you a little more wiggle room.  IIRC, we took the passenger side off but left on the drivers.  Even with the Hemi power booster bracket it's tight on that side putting the cover back on.   :thumbs:
I learned it's best to dress out as much of the motor as possible, it's easier versus when it's in the car.

yep yep...    we have the hemi on a k-member with everything on it...     planning on dropping it in tomarrow...   only thing missing is exhaust manifolds  :brickwall:    gaskeets are MIA at this time...   will be here tomarrow morning    :2thumbs:

i remember hearing that the valve covers have to be off the engine to get it to fit in there.

Has anyone put their hemi in from underneath, and do the valve covers need to come off? gerry
I used to own a mopar because it was different, but now I know better.

Take the left side off and, if it isn't already installed, leave the steering column out of the car.  Makes it easier but can be done with it in. If it is a manual brake car, I would also take the right valve cover off!
