What is happening with Mitchel Motor Parts?

I know they aren't known like the cheaper seller, more the expesive but this is really insane:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/70-71-HEMI-CUDA-NOS-MoPar-Oil-DIPSTICK-426-Challenger_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6763QQihZ022QQitemZ350022741907

those were just an example I took random... checking the B body parts list, all prices are over $300, $600, $900 etc... even the smaller parts

I know those are not common to find, but still!!!!!

Why?

Because there are enough fools out there to pay $400 for a dipstick, or $2000 for a couple of bezels, or $1500 for a damned hood ornament!

Like I said on other threads, the Mopar world has gone price crazy, and people like this guy--perhaps correctly--believe that with million dollar mopars, his parts values have gone up exponentially as well.

with the economy being what it is...those prices seem high.  bottom could drop out of this market sooner than later and I think people will have a long memory as to how they were treated by these guys.

I think this is EXACTLY WHY those parts are so high, they are trying to get ALL they can and probably gave HUGE money for the stuff to start with and are afraid that the bottom WILL drop out between Ga$ prices and the sucky economy.

They are just trolling for suckers that ARE willing to pay 20 bucks A FOOT for HEATER HOSE!!!!    :image_294343:

::)  Not sure if it's a joke, but it is funny.  Stupid funny.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Well, regardless of the "economy being so bad" (which I always have to ask, aside from prices being high due to anything fuel related--which is a lot--and people suffering from their own foolishness of adjustable rate mortgages, how is the economy so bad? Our output is strong, and although our dollar is weak it allows things being sold by the US to be very attractive, tourism is strong, travel is strong, unemployment is very low and production is high.  But never mind), I think its more likely the bottom will drop out of the COLLECTOR CAR market due to the sky high auctioneering and other BS going on.

Hell, it happened in the early 90s.  Remember million dollar Ferraris suddenly going down to $150K?  $100K Corvettes with special engines/years going down to $30?  That's when I got all my cars, I wouldn't pay today's prices.

An adjustment may surely come.

Here is something interesting, I don't know if this link works but you can go to the guy's listing (not his store) and choose completed items:

http://motors.search-completed.ebay.com/search/search.dll?GetResult&seller=1&fgtp=&sofocus=so&fpos=91709&sass=fmmpar&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&copagenum=1&sbrftog=1&saobfmts=insif&fmmk=&coaction=compare&dfsp=1&fmmd=&sabfmts=1&fylo=&saprclo=&coentrypage=search&fyhi=&saprchi=&ftrv=1&fis=2&ftrt=1&satitle=&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&mppfqy=&sadis=200&guest=1

About 85-90% of his stuff, if not more, DOES NOT SELL.  See for yourself.

I don't get it, the guy is living in some sort of dream world.

However IMHO there is some stuff in pretty decent prices, like the challenger tail lense. Being NOS and not repro is a very good price.

I bought from him just a NOS headlights harness plug what is the only one not being reproed yet ( unless that changed latelly )in just $9.

what a contrast!!!

Ill take it! do you accept bits of string?  :nana:

I have got a complete, black, perfect 1968 console.  I took it out of an abandoned Charger (not kidding) in 1979 and kept it all this time.  I just wanted another one for a "spare".

Crazy me, I'll put it up on Ebay.  Why, I should be able to get $5,000 for it, right?

Frank Mitchell was into charging insane prices for stuff long before it became fashionable for the rest of the Mopar vendors to do so.  Somehow, he has managed to stay in business for many years now and I can promise you that he's rarely paid inflated prices, if ever, for his stock.

400 bucks for a dipstick?.  What a bargain. I will take 500 of them. :smilielol:

You and I know this, but the alphabet media is doing their best to convince John Q that times are horrible. They REALLY need something else to blame the current administration for.
That idiot obama compared the current economy to THE DEPRESSION last week!!!! That is NOT a joke.

ACUDANUT

Obama and Hillary are both a joke. God help this Country. :Twocents:
