My edelbrock 1407 (750 cfm) carb is becoming too much trouble for my 440 with 727 tranny. The choke has been fixed 2 times ++ more, so im thinking about buying a new one tomorrow.
Also heard that this edelbrock is not that good on the 440 engine since it is so big.

So need some quick answers from you guys. It seems like most of you love HOLLEY CARB, is this something you would recommend to my block as well? Was thinking about
Holley 750 cfm, but is manual choke the best or not???

The 750 cfm holley is available as a double pumper (mechanical secondaries) and as a single pumper (vacuum secondaries). WHICH IS BEST???

I read somewhere that I need an Throttle Lever Extention when use of a holley carb? Is this true?

I already have the Holley Street Dominator so if should be a good match???

im not sure if youll need the Throttle Lever Extention using the holley sd  :shruggy: arent they just for use with the TM7 & TORKER type intake ?  :shruggy:

the exstention is to adapt to the chrysler throtle and kick down set up.

if its a mild street set up a vac sec works realy well when set up right and is very adjustable.

theres kits for puting a electric choke on it.

I myself have always had chokeless racing carbs on my cars 1 of wich was a daily drive and I live in the north EASt and never had a problem even in the winter pump it 2 time fire her up keep the revs up till it gets warm.

my old neighbors loved me  :icon_smile_wink:

I have a manual choke on my Holley and it pretty much just stays open all the time.

I like the Holley. I have had the Carter, Edelbrock and a Rochester on my 440. But the Holley works best for me.

So I need the extention adapter since I have the 727 tranny?? Or else it wont work or just that the kickdown wont work??? Will everything else work fine?

And is it best to have manual choke or electric???

double pumper (mechanical secondaries) and as a single pumper (vacuum secondaries). Which one?

The engine should be around 400 hp I think, at least its more than stock. Have plans on making 500 hp, which one should I get?

Ghoste

Good choice, for big block Chryslers it is almost the perfect compromise carb.  It does a whole bunch of things extremely well.  :2thumbs:

Tarzan

Just found out that I needed the Holley 20-7 kickdown adapter, s I have to order that also.
+ I need a spacer as well since the holley sd intake I have gets in the way.

Is ithe holley 3310 very hard to tune??

firefighter3931

Yep, you need the 20-7 throttle adapter. The 3310 is a descent carb and should be much better than the Edelbrock seeing that you have a hotter than stock cam.  :yesnod:

If anything, it's too tunable.  I find myself screwing around with the thing when it'd be better left alone.

It's very adaptable and easily tuned.

Tarzan

I mounted the holley carb today and I got the 20-7 part that I needed but it said that I needed the throttle stud also + the
Holley 45-228 Carburetor Choke Control Cable.

What do you guys do with the choke? Just leave it open and no cables and stuff??

Ghoste

Right now I don't have any cable hooked up to my choke (forget why I took it off :icon_smile_question:) but normally I have it on there.  It generally always stays open anyway.  It makes startups a pain but it isn't like I'm firing it up to get to work on time.
I use a generic choke cable and as for the stud, if there isn't some kind of throttle stud on there now, you will need one.

And I got the holley 20-7 Throttle Lever Extention but do I need the holley 20-36 throttle lever stud also???

You should have the stud allready on your current carb....just remove it and transfer it over to the 20-7 throttle adapter and you're good to go.  :2thumbs:
