Alright gentlemen question time.

1. How much higher is the center of the nose than the outer edges?? Please see picture #1
2. Is the gap between the nosecone and fender even all the way down and then reduces once the under tray begins. Or does the gap stay the same all the way down? Please see Picture #2

Cheers, Tim.

You are very lucky thanks for sharing this with us. I wondered where that car went to. A Daytona is worth taking on that extensive restoration. Also the pictures at Padiks are unbelievable. I wonder if Dave regrets selling all them cars :brickwall:

I've done a fair bit of panel alignment but I will admit never on a Daytona. Sometimes you just need to loosen, move and adjust 3 panels to get one to line up. It definately takes some patience and finesse. Check out this thread. He had problems with the nose alignment that he seem to eventually work out.

Djarguy, I heard a rumour of a winged car on a farm a couple of hours north of my parents and when I asked around it turned out to be the Dartbird. There's a topic on it here somewhere..

Alright, been a while since I've posted and things as usual are progressing, however, very slowly. The front of the car is finished and ready for paint, the LH rear is almost done with the RHS and tail light panel still to go. Opting to keep as much original sheet metal as possible, the bottom of the LH rear quater/ wheel arch /sill were fibricated and installed. The photos showing the the body work give you good detail of how the car is being finished nicely and not ending up a bondo buggy! We're told it's not too far off (which we're hoping because our body man is about to head off on a 3 month long tour/fishing trip).

The new kid on the block is a 71 'Cuda, 340 4-speed car which I found in florida, I believe it spent most of it's life in Louisiana and then later in Arizona. Buying a car sight unseen from the other side of the country (let alone the other side of the planet) is something best avoided. The car all in all has the typical E-Body rust as described by the seller, but he did fail in his description of the condition and, inclusion of parts that accompanied the car...... The photos are of when it was first collected from the docks and in short term storage at my mates place with his 54 Caddy.

Jeez the Daytona's looking good!!

Some good old fashioned heating and shrinking going on there.  Good to see panel work done properly.
"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."

"........the four speed box changes cogs with the precision of a sharp axe striking soft pine."

Just joined also, Excellent, very cool car with the F6 combo, one of my cars is F6, I dig it (even for a green), when previously marketed, even beat up some, it appeared a faily solid car, I understand why you bought it.  Looks like it found a real car family, very cool.

And some..

Thing (the hand) inspects the bodywork. Any more of the Addams family come to see it?

it's good to hear you're getting it done properly, but there's a lot of pitting in that photo.

bigfastjohn

This is the secret Aussi   "THING"  which enables us to do body repairs with only a paper thin layer of bondo,   you want to borrow him?

Mopar John

Tim,
I can't believe this is the same Daytona that I saw for sale at the Mopar Nationals a few years back! I thought that if someone wanted to save it they were going to have to put a new rear clip from another Charger on it and transfer the rear plug back! It was painfull to see the trunk floor being replaced after all the other original sheetmetal that was saved. I was thinking your miracle body man would spray weld it or something and again save it also!
Do you know the vin number of the Y2 yellow Daytona that served as a donor for all the front end parts?
Keep posting the update pictures you have me hooked!
