6d9 charger

I am restoring my 69 charger , i have been on e-bay , all kinds or swap meets , classifieds  and this site.
i was looking for the 2 small triangle shaped retainers that hold the shoes on on 10 " drum brakes . i have been dealing  with Wildcat  mopars  ( matt )  i bought some other stuff in the past with no problems .
i gave them a call , i was told they have them . i guess i misunderstood them i thought 5.00  plus shipping  was said ,  When i got them it was 25.00 total !!!!!   I realize that this stuff is old and expensive . Butt ...... if i had know this i would have gone to my local junk yard .
i called them back and spoke to them i was told all small brake parts are 25.00 + shipping . Now to ship to me  was 1.30  that means my parts were 23.70  for two small rusty brake parts , for that they should be at least clean . when i said i was going to send them back , i was told there was a 20 % restock fee !!!!!   I guess they would rather have my 25.00 one time rather  than a future customer who would spend money over time .
(a lot too )  for all this i want to know am i being unfair ??  But as of now i will never deal with WILDCAT MOPARS !!!!! :flame: :flame:

Do what you have to do , but personally that sounds like a hefty price . I would just shop elsewhere in the future .
GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

Goodz

It's hard to trust anyone anymore.  With the internet as it is and bargains as they are, most people dont "honor" business with specific places, especially since they can try to get it cheaper just a click away.  Businesses will get what they can while they can.  Sorry to hear that though bro.

Why wouldn't you go there in the first place?

Just chaulk it up as experience and move on.  You misunderstood the guy on the phone - it happens.  We're talkin' $25.00 not $2,500.00 correct?

6d9 charger

yeah , i know its only 25.00 ,  in the  big picture  it is not even relevant to what is in the car , but it is more about the principal , im self employed in the construction trade .
my theory is i would rather have a customer over the years who will use my services over and over  rather than banging them over the head with a one time big bill when ever i could ..

oh well . lesson learned

You think that's bad you should have seen the prices they were asking for a couple second genreation Chargers about 15 years ago.  :o

They're local and I quit going out there a long time ago.  My buddy works out there so I can't rag on them too hard.

I dont think it was expancive. What do they pay the emplyees over there? lets say 25 bucks an hour, plus office / yard / gas / electrisity etc!
It takes maybe 10 minutes with you on the phone, and another 20 minutes to find, pack and send the part. If he spent less time finding it, it is because he has spendt time at an earlier stage, to organice the parts!! That is 15 bucks worth of time, just here.......... without counting in the part yet!!!!! It is as much work to find a 2 cent part, as a 2000usd part. Would you pay another 10 bucks to get it cleaned? I know it sounds bad, but this is the way it is. If they went broke, and all parts where crushed and recycled to nails we could buy at Home Depot, we would be bitching too!!!!
This is why it is called a buisness, and not charity.
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

Point made - but it's still no reason to charge so much for such a slight part - now I could see if they have a minimum dollar amount order, but really...

If it were me I'd be upset if I thought I was getting a $5.00 part and it cost 5 times as much. but live and learn  :RantExplode:

I can see the reason for the fustration, because of a misunderstanding, but i really dont see that 25 bucks is to high as a minimum cost, to get a part :shruggy:

I have dealt with Wildcat Auto Wrecking  Sandy Oregon many times . I even bought a car there and drove it home and made home safe and sound the car was a 69 Plymouth so it wasn't that new and you had to trust them or be ready to hire a tow truck should you break down :D
I have heard it said they are expensive. Well I guess thats relative to their isolated location  and how well they know you or how many parts you have bought in the past. When I first went there the prices I paid may have been a little more then the national average but they pulled the parts on the spot and I got them. To their credit the crew has pulled parts for me in the pouring down rain a grille ,bumper etc..
What do they get paid well according to their website new hires starting wage $ 8.00 -10.00 per hour depending on experience

Like any wrecking yard there doing there best to help you find your part wheather it's common or obsolete. I don't know what the brake parts you wanted should have sold for but I suggest you get a idea then if it's diffrent then your quote like $20 cheaper tell the boss  maybee they made a mistake and if so maybee they'll make it good. I don't think $ 25 is that unreasonable when brake parts are concerned  but... the deal was made between the two of you so only you two can work it out.  :Twocents:Personally I would rather take the $ 20 loss then give up on dealing with them alltogether and have my car suffer the consequences .
I have found you have to spend more to save more there . Also wrecking yard prices are useally flexible and vary by the minute and buyer in general on  any given wrecking yard and your best bet is to show up in person cash in hand  :Twocent

Heck at least consider yourself lucky they had your parts .Some of use ain't so lucky sometimes  :shruggy: but I guess our chances now increased somewhat now that you quite dealing with them altogether so Thanks :2thumbs:

ChargersETC..ETC..

Your story's sort of hard to follow . But if you ordered the parts did you pay Cod (Cash on delivery)? Otherwise why didn't you know the exact total at the time you paid for them before they were even shipped from the wrecking yard?  Seems to me they would not ship them out period without payment ?

As for the 20% restocking fee   :o thats the first time I have ever heard of that on Used parts . Still for a Wrecking Yard that's generous I would think they would be non returnable period unless they were incorrect etc.

I can. :D I'm not real impressed with them. I went out there one time just to look around and asked about a speaker tray in a '69. They basically wanted my right arm and first born child for it so I bought one off this site from PocketThunder. I've never gone back there and I've never bought a single thing from them even though I'm probably the closest dc.com member to their yard. I can understand these guys getting decent money for their parts but Wildcat is over the top IMO.

And FD means factory direct which means you should be able to buy it at your local Mopar dealer-----------if and only if you have the Chrysler part number since most of them can't look up by description anything below 1984 since they all threw the old parts books away.

The70RT

Yeah you got hosed. And i never heard of a salvage parts puller making 50K a year  :eek2:

Oups!!
I saw after i wrote furter up ont this tread that a place like that, starting wage is 8-10 bucks an hour?? How the hell can somebody support a family on that?? Doesnt a job a place like that pay pretty much the same as a normal factory hand??
I guess i am used to a much higher price level here in europe, and the current exhange rate fooled me a little :shruggy:, like 9,5 bucks a gallon for gas :brickwall:
