dash cut out question

Had a question about why there is a cut out square to the right of the speedometer in the dash cluster that looks like something belongs there? I had trouble downloading a picture but was wondering it anyone could help. Thanks guys...  :shruggy:

What year? I'm assuming its a 68 and that would be the location of the rear speaker fade control. If you don't have the fade control option, there is a blank plate that fits in the hole.

yes it is a 68....darn i wonder how hard it would be to get a cover for it????
