My 440 engine has been rebuilt with most of the "normal" parts that people use but not with the camshaft. They installed  the "purple" camshaft in the motor.

How many horsepower can I expect from my motor now? I know that lots of other things also makes a difference.

there are a few "purple" grinds, a 484 and a 509
typically people refer to the 509 when they refer to a purple grind.

I joke that they give negative horsepower...but in reality we need more information
throw a few educated guesses out there from what I've seen on old 509 builds
dual plane intake, no headers... 300 hp 375 ft lbs of torque
dual plane intake, with headers.... 350hp 420 ft lbs of torque
better compression than stock, nice headers, and a single plane with gasket matching... 400hp 450 ft lbs of torque

you need to be more specific like what kind of edelbrock intake, how much compression, what size carb, what has been done to the heads etc.. ..   we need alot more info to give an (estmate) on hp and torque.. If its 30 over then its probably 446 cu.in...

stock 440 was 325,  hp 440 was 375,  hp had hp exhaust manifolds, hp intake manifold, different cam, what else?  I don't know,
that compression seems a little high for pump gas without having aluminum heads, are you planning on putting on those new 440 source aluminum heads?  900 bucks a pair intro price fully assembled, then your horsepower would go up a whole bunch and the compression can be higher without pump gas bothering the set up,  if you don't want headers the hp exhaust manifolds help a lot and can be bought for less than 200 bucks off ebay or in swap meet section here,  you won't have the headaches of trying to go to headers

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

The engine was rebuilt not too long ago, but this was all I got to know:(
Im gonna stroke the engine within a year, so i`ll just have to be satisfied with what I got until then.
It kinda sucks, but thats just the way it is.

When I bought it, he said that they used only GOOOOD parts and because of the wild cam and other things, that
the car had around 450 horsepowers.

Could that be true???

A lot of people vary greatly in their definition of good parts. Using drag tear-down parts costs a lot, and people often associate high price and brand name with GOOOD parts, but not when someone buys it secondhand, or even had it done and wnids up with a flat camshaft after 10,000mi on the street.
And plenty who have good parts installed and they aren't good parts
and plenty who had good parts installed by an incompetant machinist or engine builder only to have a ring never seat properly, or a bearing spin, or a valve guide fail, et cetera. the list goes on and on.
I'm not trying to scare you into tearing down an engine that is running fine. Around here it costs me $40 for a pull on a dyno, or $75 an hour for as many as I can get done. The only way to truly see, is to run it. Plus the added benefit of perfectly tuning your carb and timing while your there makes it a great investment. Depending on where you live, you can expect to triple that price though

Do you know what intake and carb you have?  do you have headers?
450 would have to have head work done, and trick intake and have headers,  but would be tough to get without aluminum heads IMO

Is the intake a highrise intake?  it should say on it,   eddlebrock CH4B, or RPM, or is is sort of low and flat looking, would be a regular eddlebrock performer, not the performer RPM,  do you have headers?   the compression is sort of higher, so I would guess the engine is putting out more horsepower than a more stock engine,  I am not an expert though, just speculating here, but probably 425 or so

Its a holley street dominator intake, 1407 edelbrock carb (750 cfm),  headers.

I live in Norway and here everything is very very expensive. It would cost around 300 dollars here for a pull on a dyno, so im gonna wait as long as I can to do that. First do everything I can with the engine.
