I got a 69 rt/se ...

cost me a grand.
Rusty - Very rusty- but it's one of 4000+ and had an engine (not original) and the interior, and an eight track player! I'll get around to getting her done.

Better pick it up. After all, how many of these cars can be left :shruggy:

Chris can answer this better than anyone, but it seems that the RT/SE's had a better than average survival rate.

I gotta agree on that one. I have one and I'm a little surprised how many are still out there?  On the other hand I understand why because from the day they were first ordered people understood what a unique car it was and through the years that logic stayed and so did the car.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

raybeez

I believe the original color on mine was that dark green.

I don't have the build sheet. It didn't even come with a title...took a little while but I finally got one. Getting a title wasn't as bad as I'd thought it would be.

Seems the car is rusty because the guy I got it from lived about a mile from the ocean in upstate Ca. He didn't have a license, some kind of drug problem fried part of his brain, so this car hasn't seen an actual street action since the early 70's.
The guy's family trailered the car to me here in Arizona. (Someone we know is somehow related to the guy who owned the car). I never saw the car until it got to me...I didn't even know it was an rt/se. Thought I was buying a parts car...but I think this one is worth saving.

On the photo above - yes the rear window is out. Because of the rust (that panel right under the rear window is pretty much gone). I have the rear window, though...it was in the car along with the rear bumper ;D

With scrap metal somewhere around the $350.00 CAD per ton range, I'd try and chisel him down to around $200.00 CAD so you could at least make a slight profit.

At least it has a few more parts than my 69 RT/SE shell that I bought off of ebay.  Mine was stripped and left to rest on barrels out in rural eastern Kansas since the early 1980s, so it did not rust too badly underneath (no trees around = no leaves to trap moisture over time)......

Wow if that car is worth $1500 I need to run over to the 68 R/T I know about for $2000 and it comes with an older truck. The 68 R/T is complete looks like someone parked in 20 years ago in the field and walked away. I will almost guarantee nobody knows about it.

Have a 69 RT SE 4-speed, with disk brakes, luggage rack & Y2 YELLOW. All there, paid 3000.00 back in early 1980s. No tag or vin not worth it. For the money you would spend, could find one in better shape. :Twocents:

I noticed this too.  Any of you guys looking at this thing realize you can't do anything with it unless it was rebuilt with a salvage title and issued a state derived VIN?

What kind of problems does that create if you dont have the VIN and Fender tags?  Is it that much of a headache?  Mine doesnt have either.  :(

It could possibly be a big problem. Check your state laws. Most states can give you a "state issued" vin tag.
