sometime next month I will be taking the old fenders and hood off, pulling the engine and tranny, restoring the inner fenderwalls and engine bay then once the engine is done put it all back together. I will take tons of pix.

Those do look good.  For those of you that haven't seen the group buy thread check it out.  We need more participation to get it going.

Do they feel as solid and heavy  as an original?  Like original gauge metal?   :popcrn:

SFRT

yes. they are very strudy.

also..they are perfect. I doubt that a perfect pair of NOS fenders even exist, and if they did...theyd be about a million bucks. I want zero bondo in my car.

Just got a call from my buddy at the shop and my fenders just arrived from AMD.  Jason(head body tech) peeled open the box and in his words "hand f'd them" and they feel perfect.
I'll be going to get them here in a few and i'll take some pics and post them.
By the way, it took less than 4 days from ordering and receiving from AMD. Now that's fast.(freight)

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

mikepmcs

My buddy Jason told me to leave the fenders at the shop cause he wants to guard them/sleep with them and he's afraid i'll screw them up on the way home.  It's where the car will go back together anyway.  He said they are the nicest thing he has ever seen, and swears they are better than factory.  He said he wouldn't hesitate to prep them and paint them BLACK BLACK BLACK with zero work.
Here's the few pics I took while I was there.  He couldn't stop talking about the quality and said he's never seen a replacement like that.

DO YOU KNOW IF THEY MAKE PARTS FOR 3RD GEN CHARGERS?
DRE - 73' Charger 360 SE

mikepmcs

Poppa,
I got them from the company that had them tooled,  Auto Metal Direct(AMD), mainly to support their efforts.  They are coming up on ebay now for a little less than what I paid a piece, but I like to go directly to the source when possible and if the price is in line with other distributors of said product. Also Year One has them now as well but are $100 more expensive a piece.
Shipping wasn't too bad, Georgia to Maine in less than 4 days freight for around $130 total for both.  I wonder if the ebay community is charging one shipping cost for both or shipping for each piece...that would be what I would ask if I was to get some off of ebay.

Their web site:
www.autometaldirect.com

That is my buddy Big Jas in the picture, not me. ;D

DREDILSKI
I don't know that answer but you can check the site and download a catalog in pdf format to check it out or you can call them directly, very nice people.

check this thread out as well

This is very encouraging feedback on AMD's product. I'm gonna be ordering some stuff for myself pretty darn soon. I sure wish they made '70 fenders. :'(

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Hemidoug

I think I'm going to grab a pair just to have them if needed someday. We are very luck AMD stepped up to the plate on all the stuff they are re-poping. You have no idea what I went through just 8 years ago to find a good used fender.....took me a loooooong time to find one. Now I almost wish I had waited to do the bodywork on her..... :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:

I am waiting for a big order from them, and i had faith in the products, so i ordered before i had seen anything. Just waiting for the rear quarters, so they can ship everything in one shot.
I am lucky, since i am in no real hurry, so i didnt get impatient, when they have been delayed, according to earlier plans. Like they said, they wanted to make it right, before they hit the market, and now we know that the waiting was worth it!!  :2thumbs: :2thumbs:
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

Sorry Dred, they are working on some things.  Right now the front and rear valances but that is it so far.  Fenders are a definite that need to be made, if you need quarters, Tabco is making some pretty good ones.

Thanks,

As far as getting 1970 fenders...you're shitouttaluck I'm afraid.
However, it wouldn't be impossible to modify a 1969 fender into a 1970 by grafting the different front section of the '70 onto the '69.
Just my opinion...
