Guess What City I Am In?

So, I arrived last night and will only be here for one night.

I've included a photo, not the best but there is really not much to see in it anyways.

Some clues:

It is in a state that we have a few members from
There are about 25,000 people in this town
It is on the shore of a lake
If you look on the street in any town/city in Canada or the United States you may find something that was made here
There is a facility close by that manufactures military vehicles

The first correct answer gets a free

:iagree: Thought it was Staten Island or San Francisco with all that smog in the air.

Thats the first thing i thought of.  What does it say on that smoke stack to the right?

didnt know i needed :insertsarcasm:, but i guess i did.  And I have lived in Staten Island.  The dumps on a hot summer morning fills the air with a thick smelly film.  And as a joke, we say SI is the armpit of the world, and that picture looks pretty crappy, so it mas meant to be a JOKE.  As for the SF comment, I believe thats where they filmed the movie The Fog, so again, a joke.  Lighten up!  But thanks for the IDIOT comment.  Real nice of you.

  The Fog: 2005
Plot: A quiet seaside town is engulfed by a thick fog precisely one century after a boat sunk just off the coast under mysterious circumstances.
  The Fog 1980
Plot: Plot: A Northern California fishing town, built 100 years ago.

Here's San Francisco..

and here's Shakey's Pic..

part of Shakey's discription of the pic..
"There are about 25,000 people in this town..
...It is on the shore of a lake"

So If you want to equate S.F. my home town which you don't know with Staten Island, "the armpit of the world" (where) The dumps on a hot summer morning fills the air with a thick smelly film. I will take great offence at that.  :flame:
go figgure.

Brock, not trying to be mean here, and sorry if I offended you with my words, but if you take the time to reread it, I said SF is where I think they "FILMED the movie The Fog", not where the movie was set.  Sorry that was so confusing.  I dont remember everything from my "Geography of Northern California and it's correlation to members of Mopar Boards 101" class.

So  :insertsarcasm: in case you couldnt tell this time.

Well if it is Neenah they do have a couple nice restaurants/pubs downtown.  Also up in Appleton on College Ave there is nice Italatian restaurant called Victoria's.  You can smell the garlic for blocks.  Oh and was it by chance raining?

Fond du Lac?  Oshkosh?

It looks just crappy enough to be Wisconsin...

PS----no "smog" to speak of here in S.I.N.Y. and Fresh Kills closed in 2001 so no more odors

Well done!

Now, I'm gonna guess you're from that area or, from your second post in this thread, very familiar with the area.  Was it the photo or the clues that gave it away?  I honestly thought it would be tougher.  Next time I will not offer up as many clues.  Hell, I even cropped half of the Bergstron Paper Co. smokestack outta the photo so that it wasn't a dead giveaway.

Or, like another member who used to play along had some sort of software that, when I was logged on was able to provide the location, right down to the hotel name and street address of where I was posting from and would win every time.

Either way here's your beer -

I grew up in Appleton, but the clues gave it away to me.  I actually never realized all those manhole covers where made in Neenah until I was living in Indiana.  Now everytime I notice one I get home sick.  Or for that matter when see an Oshkosh truck, a Pierce fire truck, or a Miller wilder.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?
