Jim Shine might be able to help you on this one.  He'll most likely see this thread or just PM him with the question.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Todd Wilson

The Warner Bros Paper work  will tell for sure and Wayne Wooten of TDC I am sure could verify if its a real tv car or not.

"It's a real GL from the series"

99.99% of the time you hear this claim, it's bullshit.  In the later '80s just about any GL replica was rumored to be a "real one" but nowadays the fates of the used GLs have been well accounted for.  It's not impossible to find another one out there, but it takes some very freak circumstances to make it happen.

Don't even think twice about it being true for your car if you can't find evidence of a very crudely-done tan/brown spray paint job on the interior.

There's a boy up here with a kick a$$ GL from Central Maine Mustang in Waterville, and he claims it's the 30th car or something...  This Charger is really sweet but...

Man , it is nice though.

  Don't forget, he won all sorts of awards at Dukesfest with it. I think he told the local newspaper "It was like a jewel rolling off the trailer amongst the poorly built replicas" or something like that.

There is still a real VIN list in existence, it's just not public.  Wayne Wooten (of the Dodge Charger Registry) has the info to call out a fake.

There's a little over 20 real ones left depending on how you define "surviving."  The lot of 17 came right out of WB in 1991 looking 100% unchanged since the series ended, 16 of which were still pretty straight as GLs go.  Of course they'd been driven hard as hell.  Many of them had done some fender-banging with other cars and mini-jumped a lot.  But only one of them had ever done a really fatal jump.

A subcontracted supplier of GLs (one of several that the TV production employed) also got in trouble for reworking wrecked cars and passing them off as fresh ones with phony VINs.  The real total number is still pretty high, but it's lower than the official numbers.

charger01

i believe only one general lee had headrests, and never a black interior.....he's full of it.

ChargerSG

Interior has been changed before the 3 owner ago got it, as for dropping a 383 insted of the 440 Magnum thats long gone, same with the Dana. I know its probebly bull but it was just a fun thing to know. Mailed Wayne about the car.

The problem is that WB outsourced the cars during the period of time the larger number of supposed casulaties occured. While VINs were recorded, the parts and such were property of the outsourced firm, not WB. The items that were demanded to be removed were the roof skins and doors. But they were pretty picked clean before being scrapped. Anyhow, WB was not hands on for a while and the logs reflect what they were charged for and paid.

Bob Hanner

Most likely NOT a real General Lee, It still has the sidemarker lights. All mid to late series General Lee's had the sidemarker lights filled in and painted.

bamadukefan02

It also has a factory antenna and a passenger side mirror.  The antennas were removed after the first few episodes when it was found they got in the way of the hood slides.  The Generals in the series never had a passenger side mirror

bamadukefan02

Oh and another thing to look for is where the pushbar was welded to the car.  On early cars it was welded to the bumper, which could have been changed out for one with out weld damage.  On later cars with wider push bars they are welded to the sides of the front frame rails, which is how some Chargers used  movies after the show ended (Gladiator and some other that I can't remember) were identified after they had been repainted.

ChargerSG

The Pushbar was welded to sides of framerails, cut away like 10 years ago.
The 3 ownerago said he triend to change the car back to stock but never got to far with it. Like i said before it all sounds like bull, but you never know since it was in 2 other tv shows(getting dvd from one of them sent to me) when the car was allmost new.

When i get the fendertag(its been located) there is even more about this car, but i wait with those things untill i got it:D

Thanks for all info
