Engine Problems in the Aspen?

I seem to be having a problem with the engine in the Aspen. It seems that when you put the gas peddle all the way to the floor from a dead stop the car revs like it should, breaks the tires loose but then the engine stops revving almost as if the car is shifting into second (automatic) sputters once or twice, then picks back up like nothing happened and slams you back into the seat. If you take it slow from a dead stop and accelerate the car is fine.

The only thing different Ive noticed about the car since buying it is when I put the car into drive or reverse, the car will move without my foot on the gas. This would be simple to fix, just the carb I believe.

I know this is probably just a stupid post but I would like to get it all sorted out.

You need to do some investigating under the hood.

Check all grounds and make sure all wiring has room to move around. NO WIRES SHOULD EVER BE TIGHT OR STRETCHED.

Check your drivers side motor mount. Simple with 2 people. (1 in the car with the motor running, foot on brake and gas peddle). The 2nd watching the drivers side of the motor for lift when the throttle is opened up. If the motor lifts more than a little and you have factory rubber mounts replace it. Both is better.

Check fuel pressure and volume.

Check fuel level in the bowl.  You could be running it out of gas quickly.

Let us know what you find..

Am I wrong or doesn't this sound like an accelerator pump?
