You honestly have two Chevy friends with 440 Mopar engines in them     that is amazing.

Well if they have big block cars, you can still always say, I can go twice as far on a tank of gas, and
at todays prices thats getting to be more of a thought...............

are you serious? (about your friends with mopars motors in their bowties) nothing wrong with 318's great little motors!

2much2learn

should i swap it out?  is bigger always better?

myk

Is having a 318 causing famine, plague and disease around the world?  No, of course not, and your car will run with that motor 'till the end of the world.  In my opinion though, if you wanna' do the muscle car thing "proper"  there's nothing better than a thumping big block in a 60's mid-size car like a B-body Mopar.

What's your goal for the car?  Do you have money to support your goal?  If you just wanna' have a Charger and drive it around just for the sake of having a Charger then leave it alone.  If you want proper bragging rights, get a 440.

Also, are you saying that your friends have Dodge 440 engines in their cars, or that their cars have 440 cubic-inch motors?

Finally, sounds like your friends are real jerks.  You might wanna' do a new-friend 'mod...

This is funny.  I was thinking yesterday If I could slip a 6 cyl in my RT I would so I could just drive around and look cool.  My 440 sucks gas way way to much to enjoy.  I really think about what it will cost each time I cruise.  Oh well what can I do?  318 is a great Mopar motor, you're always going to find bullies making stupid comments.  Save money on fuel, have fun.  They must have 427's or 454's, no way 440's?   Either way they are at the pumps a lot more than you.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

You actually care what others think about you with regards to what size engine is in your car?   :loser:

charger01

doubt they are 440's either......

dpm68

Yea, 440s in Chebbys? If they are packing them, then by all means, get us some pics, please. Other than that, 318s got a right to be out there too.

Know a guy North of Seattle that put a 440 in a '69 Camaro...

Here's another tidbit you need to learn...  Except for (1) that's in the Corvette museum in Bowling Green...  there were NO '83 Corvettes.

True. ;D

Ok, so all info corrections aside, who cares what others think of your car? If you like it & enjoy driving it, that's all that should matter. :yesnod:  If your friends are making fun of you for something like that & are halfway serious about it, they aren't very good friends. Sounds like they're a bit insecure of themselves, if they need to diss your ride.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Actually, you are wrong on that one, Brian.  Chevrolet did make a few (around 20 or so) for testing purposes, but just did not advertise that they would be avaliable for purchase afterword (they were slated to be crushed, but a few survived).  If Chevrolet had their way, you would have been correct.  One of the testing 83s is owned and has been restored by a member of the local Corvette club (Mid-Missouri Corvette Club) that I used to be a member of.  I have seen it at the 63 Diner show here in town and at parades downtown.  I know the literature quotes only one produced, but that was counting only the one you mention for release to the public......

No, would you be ashamed driving a 327 SS or a Boss 302 or  340 'Cuda?
Fact is that back in the day more big blocks had their ass's handed to them by small blocks than people want to admit.
Don't suffer from big block envy, long live the mighty 318!

TheGhost

Your 318 is bigger, and probably more powerful, than the 273 in my Barracuda.

Does that make you feel a little better?

I have a 318 in my car and when I say its a 318, people dont laugh, but they kinda act like, "aww,  that's cute!"

Anyway, I read an article somewhere that a guy got 490 HP out of a 318 with some modifications.  i say, if you got the money, get your 318 modded and blow their doors off with your iddy biddy 318.  :)

Line up with the guy with the vette for a race...

Hey now, don't be cloning the /6 Chargers, ya hear.   ;D  LOL, just kidding...  Still, not too shabby of an idea to do, as you can save wear and tare on your orginal engine for the big shows, plus you could still potentially blow away some of the ricers on the road if you built the /6 up a bit......
