Maybe you 3rd gen guys can appreciate this pic taken in about 1983.  Just don't make fun of me because of the 71' general lee.   Believe it or not....back then it was pretty cool.  My dad had 4 chargers and a parts charger at the time.   There are 3 1971's and 1 1972 in the pic.  You can just see the nose of the 72.   The green one my dad painted plum crazy purple shortly after this pic.  I own the 72 now and the rest are long gone.

My Dad taught me about TIME TRAVEL.

No funnies here. Nice retro pic.

Cool pic. Wish my Dad would have been into cars like that when I was a kid.

I am jealous your Dad is cool, my Dad was a Ferd man, and really could care less about cars. We had a 68 Ford
Galaxie and a 71 Ford truck, and he hated all Chrysler products as well as GM's, so I got back at him   :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:
But he still only has Ferds   :eek2:

No bashing at all!!!!  Does´nt matter if it is 1st gen, 2nd gen or 3rd gen!!
That is the visualizion of a happy childhood!!! :2thumbs:
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

My first car was a 1972 charger painted up like the general Lee, prior to purchase of the vehicle from a police auction someone had sprayed primer over the numbers and the general lee wording but the flag was still showing proudly. Nice to see what it probably looked like before that. This was back in 1986 though. Thanks for posting the pic.

Wow, my dad didn't like cars either.  Great shot and that 01 car was cool.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

My dad was mainly a mopar guy but he always had a ford and once in a while a GM.  At one time I think we had 17 vehicles in the yard.  There was usually one parts car in the yard and the rest were all running drivers.  Here is another pic I think is pretty cool.  My dad passed away 2 years ago at the age of 61 and I miss him more than I ever thought I could miss someone.  I keep this pic on my dresser to remind me of him and of the fact he was actually kind of cool....for a dad.

I just realized that behind the red 71 charger in that pic is a 71 charger 500 that is a under a cover, you can't see it though because there is a shed in the way.  The 71 charger 500 was my first car and my dad hung on to it for many years intending it to be an early high school graduation present for me.  Luckily I graduated!

Ramit,

What kind of options did the 71 Charger 500 come with? if you can recall  :D

ramit

It had the rallyes gauges, center console with slapstick, and R/T style tail lights.  It was a 318 car so it didn't get me in to too much trouble. :icon_smile_big:  My dad was at work one day and noticed a car sitting in the junkyard across the street.  It was the third car up on a pile of cars.  My dad could see that it had the 500 model tail lights and it also had a 500 emblem on the fender so he had the guy take the car down off the pile and he gave him $300 for it.  The only things it needed was a driveshaft and a valve cover gasket.  It had 92,000 miles on it and it was complete and not even in bad shape.  The only body damage was a spot where the forklift put a small dent in the car when in took it down off the pile of cars.  It is kind of sad to know that cars got junked so easy back then.

Is that an A body barracuda nose in the front.

ramit

Nope...that is a Toyota Chinook motorhome that my dad had picked up for $200 with a bad clutch in it.  That was the only foreign vehicle he ever owned.

sounds like my 71 Charger 500 when I bought it was missing the drive shaft too and got it for 1200, cali car with hardly or no rust. a 318 you can do anything and everything to it and it will not break  :smilielol: but the car I have came with a 383  :D.  they are all sweet kick but rides  :drool5:

ramit

The red 71 in the pic was a 383 car, the green one and the general were 318 cars and the blue 72 is 400 4 barrel car.

ramit

Here is a pic what the green one looked like when he got done with it and right before he sold it.  You can hardly tell but my dad did a ton of work on the passenger side quarter panel.  You can see a bit of damage in the before pic but I think my dad purposely cut the back part of the green car out of the other picture.

ramit

My dad had rally wheels on that car  before this pic but the kid that bought the car couldn't hardly afford the car so they agreed that my dad could keep the rallyes.  I just wanted to explain the dorky hubcaps. :icon_smile_big:

Goodz

Yeah, I'm just jealous all around.  He never got anything cool like that when I was growing up.  He had (in order)...

1963 or 1965 Impala
1971 Duster (they got this when I was born in 1973)
1976 Malibu Classic
1981 Cadillac Coupe De Ville
1984? Mark V Van
1989 Lincoln Continental
1981 Corvette Stingray
1984 BMW Convertible 300 series
????  Hyundai XG300
2007 Sebring Convertible

So as you can see, nothing great.  I will make sure my kids look at my cars and are like "AWESOME!!!"
"If there are two ways to interpret something I said, and one of them offends you, I meant the other one."

CHARGERMAN2007_69

hell my dad has had his 70 charger r/t since he was in high school and we just got his old 70 gtx back cause when he sent it to the junkyard in probably 85 or 86 he didnt have anywhere to put it now he does we gave the guy a 68 383 hp for it straight up  Man im so glad they make panels new for them now its almost done and my dad is restoring a 1 of 117 73 road runner gtx original 440 and original yallow i think its one of the original daisy cars off the dukes of hazzard cause it has the place where the cb antenna goes!!!!!!

Cool pics & memories.  My dad thinks of a car as a convenient place to sit while going to work :brickwall:
