Are the 67's in any kind of demand for project resell?

It's probably a little to early to ask but I'm going to look at a 67 383 4spd Charger in the morning thats for sale locally.  Supposedly theres about a 1000 miles or so on a rebuild and it gets cranked up on occasion and run--not driven.   Been sitting a while.   Don't know about the rust condition but was told it didn't have a lot but some on the doors.  Other than that I don't know much about it until I look at it. Could be a rot box-who knows  :shruggy:.  If I can get some pics I'll post it.  The guy told a friend of mine he wanted a $1000 for it.  If I get it, it's only for me to clean, repair, etc. and maybe resell it to make a few dollars to help fund my Superbird clone.  A co-worker has a 440-6 engine complete from breather to tranny for $1500 I'm going to get and thought maybe I might could make enough or at least put a dent in it to pay for it.  The question for me is, is there much demand for the 67's?  I don't see too many people asking to buy them or even on evil bay getting much bidding activity on the decent ones.  I like them ok but what do ya think?  Without pics or better info. its hard to say but thought maybe I could get a better idea of desireability.  I'm no flipper by any means but if the possibility exists to help fund my project by even just a little bit I'd like to give it a shot.

I'd hand over 1k for any running, titled first gen without thinking twice. And a 4-gear car, to boot? Point me at the seller! I love them, and hope to have a whole one someday, instead of just the interior parts shoe-horned into my '69. If only the doors have significant rust, that's great news. I have a beautiful set of skins in the basement.  Someday maybe I'll be the guy that comes across a screaming deal like that! Some folks have all the luck!

A charger is a charger. If that particular year isn't popular now, it will be. Look at the 4th gens. Shoot if you go far enough back the demand for the 2nd gens wasn't all that much, now its getting hard to find a decent priced project that isn't rusted to hell.
I think your profit is going to be determined on what you do to it and how fast you plan to flip it. If you pick it up now, fix it quick, and put it up for sale right away, you might not get as much as you would if you waited to sell it.

Personally, when I was looking at one (see post pics of your car thread) it didn't catch right away but when I started looking at the pictures of it again, it really grew on me. If I have the extra cash/time I would love to track it down and restore it one day.

Edit: it should be noted that I have run into a number of cars I would like to restore in the future, that charger, the barracuda posted with it, and...dare I say it...a red on red 67 327 camaro that has been sitting in a driveway of my block since before I was born. Almost was my first car...lord knows I would have saved a ton on restoration and been driving it already had I not found my 68 charger sitting in the dirt.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

For $1000 I wouldn't expect much  :shruggy:   Chances are it would cost more to fix it up than your going to get out of it as a flipper. 1st Gens are like any other vehicle of that era... If you put time, money and imagination into them, you'll have a car that's truely unique, and that's worth something. Unfortunately, when you reach this point, chances are you won't want to part with it.

I know the fella that owns the Black 66 below... As you can see it's a real sharp car that would fetch a tidy sum, but I can also tell you that he would never sell it... nor would I sell my Red Charger pictured below it. Mine is still a work in progress, but when I'm done there'll be no For Sale signs hanging on it.

I would agree, if it runs and has the interior complete, you can't loose money on that car!

I'd grab it for a grand.... but then again, I probably wouldn't be flipping it either- a 67 4 speed 383 car would be a worthy addition to any first gen lover's fleet! :2thumbs:

As you can see there is more than just a little rust.  He said it would crank up and run and that he had rebuilt it about 1500 miles ago.  Floor pans either have some holes or sheet metal patches in it.  Doors, fenders, qtrs all need work/replacing.  Roof looked solid.  Electrically worked for the most part and the headlight doors were disconnected but complete. The car is worth the money especially for someone needing parts etc. as there is more that is avail. to go with it but I think it needs too much time to invest in it verses to make a little profit. Haven't decided what to do yet since I already have more on my plate than I can eat that needs taken care of first and don't really want to sit on it for a long time to do what would be needed to make it worthwhile storing somewhere and selling.   :shruggy:  Gotta think it over some.  Got more pics if someone wants more body detail.

buy it only if you can keep the vice gripsĀ  :D
Those aren't vice grips.  They're extended battery post connectors when the leads all gone  :icon_smile_big:  It did turn over but not fast enough to crank it up.

i figgure if you have room for her,.. snap her up,.. seems like alot of the hard to find items are there,.. and if not flipped outright,.. parting out the good stuff, might bring in a enuff to make it worthwhile...
i don't care for the color but restored i bet she's be a real looker...

The Kid

It's a little rough but for a $1k I'd definitely buy it.

I LOVE that black '66 :drool5: !

I agree.  I'd don't have the money, or the room right now, but if I found that locally, I'd probably run to the bank.  Or, at the very least, give the contact info to someone else.  That car deserves to be saved.

You can't go wrong for a thousand.  If you don't want it, buy it and resell it to someone who will save it.

I bought mine 4 2 grand in pieces but But its rust free. You can't rebuild a 383 for 1000 dollars now a days. Those gauges and the motor alone make the car worth more then a grand I would say BUY IT!
Deals like that on any old mopar is nearly unheard of. The rusty old a body's with slant 6's are now going for around 1000.
