undercoating application: front inner wheel wells

Hey gang...
Got a question and it's probably obvious............... When the front wheel wells were undercoated from the factory, was it done with the rear fender filler panel (splash shield) already installed and if so, was there overspray on the attach bolt where the splash shield meets the fender lip?  Jet?

The reason I ask is my '68 Hemi Charger R/T will be getting painted REAL soon and then undercoated and I need to know if I need those two items installed on the car after paint, but before undercoat application....

Thanks...

Hey Troy,my 69 is an original undercoating car,all still there and mint,no floors or trunk floor work ever,so I left it all,the front fenders which have never been removed until I did it,proves to be a good reference, had undercoating all over the shield and small bolts with the washers.I had to use a heat gun to warm up the undercoat and scrape away enough to get a socket on to remove. When I removed the shield,no undercoat behind,so it was installed first, then undercoated. And yes, there was a little, not much, overspray on the one bolt that holds it to the fender lip.Made me happy as it was evidence that the car has never been rotted out or wrecked. My pics are to large to post.Hope this gives you some info.

I agree, the splash shields were on before the undercoating was applied.  When my fenders were pulled off you could clearly see where the undercoating wasn't sprayed farther than the shield. There was an outline of undercoating right up to the shields then bare fender beyond that point. Hope this helps.  Ted

Great guys... Thanks............. Now, where can I get quick the seals for the shield? Seems my car's going to get painted late this week or next.....   :icon_smile_big:

Shakey

If you don't put the splash shields on before undercoating you'll have a helluva time opening the doors as the hinges will get coated as well.

Numerous vendors have the seals.  I bought mine from Year One.

Paul.  I would just use my "paint" option on the computer. I would pull it up, click file, click open, find the picture, click Image, scroll down to resize/skewl, and put in the size box like 50% both ways and see how it looks.  I would do that until I got something under 200KB or whatever the allowed size is for the site and then save it,
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.
