So how do you like the 69's new attitude? Call me crazy but I'm liking the "old school" look on her. I might just get a set of Torq Thrust D rims for the front and keep her looking like this. What do you guys think?

I like it also.  I think you should put a set of Pro-Stars or Drag-lites on the front.  Or maybe some Cragar S/S wheels.

i think the stance and tire size are sweet. even the steelies don't look bad. but just my personal opinion. i have NEVER thought mismatched wheels looked good, and i will probably never understand the nostalgia 60's reasoning for doing it

I like the look/stance, but keep the wheels the same.

Here is one with the street tires for comparison...

i like it a lot more in the 1st pics than the 2nd. Id put some Cragar S/S's on there and it would look killer

with alot of hype going around with oversized wheels, its nice to see the old school look :2thumbs: she looks ready for the track  :2thumbs:

love the old school look. you should make that permanent
third string oil changer

terrible one

Hell yeah dude, it's way cool. To me, the nostalgia of the mismatched wheels has to do with the mentality of being a cheap street rodder and throwing whatever fat-ass wheel and tire combo you could get on the back and leave the front the way it is. I personally would put some vintage torq thrust or ET equivalent on there or some Cragars for the front.  :2thumbs:

That steel wheel/cast wheel mismatch was done in the early drag era for functional reasons.  Many of the cast aluminium (and magnesium) aftermarket wheels of the time weren't really strong enough for hard dragstrip launches on slicks.

I think it looks badass on that car.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

G-man

The tyres on the rear look good... but that black rim.... looks like u got it out of a junkyard for 10 bux.

Change all 4 rims - SS Cragars or Torque thrust Originals.

If you got money... I personally... ET classic 5 Spokes.

Your car looks real good though :icon_smile_big:

Doug!!!   That's looking b-b-b-b-b-badazz!!   :drool5:

I'd grab a couple 15x7 steelies, paint em' black and put them on front with some chrome lugnuts and call it good!   :2thumbs:

I like it. I also think Torque thrust wheel up front is the way to go :yesnod: :2thumbs:

As far as the mixed look, a lot of guys toss non matching wheels on just for drag racing. So it's fine the way it is.

Or you could just paint em body color with a set on the front and throw on some dog dish's.Then when you go to the track pop off the caps. :Twocents:

I really like the look of the black steelies on the rear. What size tire and wheel combo is it?   An all-Cragar SS set on the car would also look awesome.   I actually prefer the look of black steelies over body-color on any color of Charger.

472 R/T SE

I had to edit, I initially asked about your Cal Tracs but decided to try a search.  :blush2:  What about using another set of Magnums for the slicks.  I like the body color steelies idea too.

I'll be in the same boat.  I have a set of new slicks mounted on a set of Centerlines but also just picked up another complete set of torq thrust D's.  Pinks All Out is gonna be here this summer too.  I'm hoping to make their final cut but Rich has come up with something different.  All qualifying cars have to run 11.50 or faster and he gives the drivers' et times they need to cut at the tree.  Something like that.  I doubt me runnin' slicks & Cal Tracs is gonna help enough tho.  :shruggy:
