valve to piston clearence

I am putting together my 440 srp pistons (213455). Edelbrock heads.Lunati cam (60303) .494/.513 .
The pistons are notched and the cam is smaller then the eddy cam they use their top end kits. Do I need to check valve clearence?
How do you check it? assemble the engine with playdoe onthe pistons ?

The clay/play doh method works fine. You should have plenty of clearance with that cam...but it never hurts to check.
