compressor to air grinder

That wont take a very big compressor to run. 4 cfm @90 psi is what it says. Most impact guns will run in the 12 to 16 cfm range, but then again you dont run them constant as you would a die grinder.

Depends if you want to use it continously or use it intermittently. I have a 6hp 30gal Craftsman compressor. It will run my cut-off wheel decently (about 3cfm at 90psi), but I can't cut/grind continously for longer than 10min without letting the tank refill. It will still run it but it gets real slow. It also depends how much money you are willing to spend. My compressor was only $280.

No, I won't buy, but couple of friends have one at theirs homes... so needing to know the minimal requirements to know if someone will work.

If you can get access to one that will put out 6cfm at 90psi you should be in good shape, the more cfm the better. You could get away with less though, your just going to need to be patient and wait for it to refill every now and then.

That should work, just double check the cfm figures at 90psi.

Get access to the most powerful compressor you can.

I have 3.5 running hp (7hp max) 60 gallon compressor in the garage, it will do most of the air tools if not all of them.

The horsepower on some of the new compresors can be deceptive, I've seen compressors rated at 6 HP with a motor the size of a 3/4 HP...no way!!!

My opinion is go with BIG even if you have to go into debt. A 2-stage with a minimum of a 60 gallon tank.
