Stressful Day

I didn't think I could have a day like this! I swear this is all true and it's just now 12 noon!

This morning I woke up to the Satellite TV not working. I went outside to notice a tree branch had fallen and knocked the dish a little of course. I went up on the later to fix it and instead took a 7 foot fall down onto the lawn. I was ok although my back is killing me and I am sore as hell.

An hour later my grandma picks me up in her car to drive me to my uncle's place so I can pick up the Aspen since he had borrowed it the day before. We met him about half way and thats when I noticed that the front passenger tire was COMPLETELY flat! My uncle didn't notice and was driving it like that.

I went to take the tire off and found out the jack in the trunk is seized, useless. My uncle and my grandma had to drive into town and so they took me home to wait there. My uncle locked the car up, gave me the keys, and I was left at home.

2 hours after that I was still sore but a friend said he'd meet me at the car but he'd be running late. So I picked myself out of bed (where Id been dormant since I got dropped off wanted the T3's to kick in) and walk the an and a half to my car. I get there with plenty of time. I went to open the car and my key didn't work. Thats when I remember my grandmother saying something about finding a useless key in her house and throwing it out. That key turned out to be the key that unlocks both doors to my Aspen.

Now I live out in a very rural community of about 200 people and the closest town is an hour and a half fast drive. Lock smiths wont even travel out this far unless you are worth $200 to them. My friend on the other hand had called my cell saying he couldn't make it for some reason so I was left to walk home. Halfway home it starts to piss down rain. We still have snow in our yards out here, this was a cold rain and me without a coat.

So I get home in time to have an epileptic seizure in my kitchen right after taking off my boots!

for some reason today is not my day and its only half over....  :rotz:

That sucks. Lease Aspen doors are easy to open with a coat hanger. :yesnod:

Please explain further? If you mean using one to pull open the door lock you cant on mine. The door locks are a totally cylindrical piece with no lip for a coat hanger to grip. If you mean something else please let me know otherwise the only ways in are smashing a window, or cutting open the carpet covering on my rear seat to get at the lever to fold the back seat down and I am WAY to big of a guy to try and crawl through there.

Yes I am fine. I was diagnosed Temporal Lobe epileptic a couple years ago and for the last six months I was seizure free due to my neurologist doubling my medication. He said if that didn't stop the seizures Id have to have brain surgery which I DO NOT WANT!

The lock to the trunk was changed and thus I have a key for it, AND my rear seat is the type that folds down. The problem is that Id have to cut the carpet covering the rear of the seat what I dont really want to do to get at the switch to release the rear seat and second, even with the seats folded down, the hole is WAY too small for me to crawl through.

I understand that you don't want the surgery, but your health is important and you do need to talk with your dr about what happened.  We would all just die if something bad happened to you.

I will be calling my doctor tomorrow. Im hoping he'll just say to continue with my meds as is concerning the amount of stress I was under.

Try a slim jim down between the window and the weather strip - catch the lock mechanism and pull/push/wiggle..

A slim jim is a strip of sheet metal like the ones shown here: http://www.lockpickshop.com/AK60.html

easy enough to make - and if you know how the lock works in an Aspen, you can make the right one - notch, hook, slot...

Drache

UPDATE:

Finally got the car unlocked! A tow truck driver came along and tried a slim jim but for some reason he couldn't get it to work and then dropped the slimjim inside the door! What was finally done was get a coat hanger over the top of the window and use it to very slowly and with great difficulty to unroll the window and that was that. The slim jim was taken out afterwards.

I tried using one a small air compressor to inflate my tire enough to get the car home but the tire just wont inflate. The rubber around the valve stem is cracked and broken so tomorrow I'll have to go take the tire off where the car sits and hope it'll be ok there for Sunday and Monday while Im out of town for my appointment at the hospital. I'll bring the tire into town with me and just get CT to repair it.

If my luck has turned, everything will go fine enough that the Aspen will be back on the road in time for the parade on my birthday!

On another note someone said he might offer me $3600 for my aspen. Seems he owned one when he was my age and totalled it. He has a 360 engine that hes put $12,000+ into and wants a car to get onto the strip with. That is 3x the amount I paid for the car so I am milling it around in my head as I can't really afford to keep up with the gas and insurance on this thing at the moment due to my health costing me my job. Not to mention the interior of the car is in DIRE need of some work. But at the same time, she's a powerful little car who will light up the tires almost as good as my uncle's friend's 400hp '69 Camaro!

Ok I need to get this day off my chest as well....

My birthday is on Friday and only a single friend could make it, that is until I drove hours to where she lived, spending gas money and hotel room money, only to find out the morning we are supposed to leave, that she now doesn't want to come.

So I had to drive all the way back here for nothing. On top of that the flat tire of my car couldn't be repaired (tire place refused to do it), spent all my money on gas and hotel so I couldn't afford new front tires for the Aspen (on top of which I didn't have the driver's side tire anyways).

I was about to have a good day when the parcel Ive been waiting months for finally arrived only to find out that the store shipped the WRONG item (item I got was even worth LESS than what I ordered) and had quoted me almost DOUBLE the shipping costs (Canada post stamps shipping cost on the parcels).

Also did I mention that my 5 month old laptop kicked the bucket after lending it to friends for a month (whether or not they broke it cannot be established).
