FWIW, a 1969 headlight door is the same as a 1968, the only difference is those knocked out holes. You can actually see how they only modified the 1968 mold for the 1969. They made the "Charger" script to fit the old arrow holes (with speednuts) and the arrow/R/T emblem is made with legs that sit in the grooves of the door and require screws.

But they sag over time.

I had thought about that as well, but maybe it depends more on the type of grille. What I mean is, the Charger grille is in 3 sections with each section being short, & molded differently. Each section is mounted to a metal support behind it & there is less weight at each area vulnerable to the sagging. The center section of the '69 Charger grille has the protruding center that actually acts as a support & makes the entire section more rigid. The '68 Charger grille doesn't have that center protrusion, so if there were any chance of sagging, it might be the '68 grille.

On my '71 Cuda grille, it's all one piece from left to right & the headlight bezels are part of the grille. This might have even more of a chance to sag with the weight of the 6 inserts, but maybe the way each insert has a molded "tunnel" type of area around it, it will act as a support.   :shruggy:

To be honest with ya looking at his (Rob) h/l door now ( never noticed it before, wasn't looking at that) I'm kinda thinking his door is a modified 68 door also.  :scratchchin:
Waaaaa?   Never noticed that?  I'll have to look at it.  It had a stress crack in it from some of the holes?  Oh well, looks good from the front.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Could someone post the link to Premier Plastics please.  I was told that there may be another place out of Michigan that makes the grilles?  Was my source mistaken?

I would think the flexible ones would be better?  :scratchchin:
mine is cracked because it doesnt flex..
But they sag over time.

I may have been out of the loop for a while but it was my understanding that Premier only makes the more flexible type. There have been many discussions around the web about their process for molding the plastic as well as the type of plastic used. I know of at least two other vendors who were planning to reproduce these grills but the correct tooling is very expensive and there's not really enough room in the parts market for multiple vendors of the same piece. Customers tend to "go cheap" so a more correct/accurate part at a higher price would likely sit on shelves and lose money. That's sad but it's the way things go. Which leads to the part numbers and other markings. In order to put those on any reproduction part the manufacturer must "license" it from Chrysler and pay them a fee for every part produced. This, of course, raises the manufacturing costs and, ultimately, the price for the consumer. Some people are willing to pay the premium for a more accurate reproduction but many aren't (see PG Classic vs BE&A for a good example of how some places handle this).

Nice talking with you at the Nats Troy.  All your statements are correct pertaining to the reproduction of plastic grilles.  Grilles that are being reproduced, if not from ABS plastic, is a casted piece which is very susceptible to heat.  You can take a casted part and put it in the hot sun and it will become soft, shrink, warp, sag, and do all sorts of undesirable things.  Casting is usually left to proto typing a part and not for production, it's a very inexpensive way to make a part.  Take your casted grille and put it in the direct hot sun light and see what happens to it, not to mention the heat of the engine.

The general public doesn't realize the difference between a casted part and an injected part.  Same goes for lenses, many lenses are casted and have all the inherent problems of that process.  We looked really hard at reproducing an injected ABS plastic 68-69 Charger grille, however, since there is one available, no matter how bad it might be, it's still available.

A brand new ABS plastic piece isn't brittle, it takes many years, exposed to the elements, to dry out and made it susceptible to cracking.  Casting a part is 1/10th the cost of doing with a hot injected molding tool.

Just my thoughts.

I still don't have mine yet.  I paid back in January. I have been asking for a refund for the past 3 months and they will not respond. It's really pissing me off.

Thanks!   Now their phone is temporarily disconnected, THIS IS NOT LOOKING GOOD,     What is the process for small claims , do you have to go to TEXAS to go to court?  Is there any recourse thru the VISA company after 4-5 months? what will the Mckinny police dept. do for ya. Just trying to proceed with this.

SnoPro440

I called my bank and they told me I had to file a claim within 90 days of the purchase. I think we are screwed.  I have no idea about court either, I just started looking into that yesterday.  I don't think the police will do anything, but I figured if enough people sent a complaint to them too, they might just look into it.

Do you have your credit card statement?  Is there a phone number listed under the charge they made?

I have a small rant about this:

1. That site looks pretty fresh. How can they be ripping everyone off then go out and create a new website? I guess they used the money I sent for a grille to lure more suckers in.

2. I paid with a money order sent through USPS. I may end up filing mail fraud charges if I don't get my grille.

3. Why doesn't a REPUTABLE company make these grilles that we all need. There is obviously a market for them. I would even pay more if I knew I would actually get one.

4. I will make sure I tell EVERYONE driving a Mopar about PP. Hell, I'll even tell people NOT driving Mopars. I think I'll make a T-shirt and wear it 24/7. I think I'll put it on the back of my business cards. Maybe we all can spread enough bad feedback about these f*cker to put them out of business if they are not already gone.

People don't listen when they're blinded by the excitement of seeing something brand new that they want & have to have. Common sense goes out the window, warnings go unheard, & money flies out of wallets. I've done it myself, but fortunatelly I learned from that mistake a long time ago. I've been posting about how Premiere's customer service is as good as halpag's bodywork skills for several years, on several websites, but apparently there are still a lot of people who either like to gamble, or just don't care. The only way I'd ever consider buying from Premiere ever again, is if they have a vending space at a swap meet with the part in stock.

The only thing that may help out any DC.com member, is if someone near Premiere's location can actually pick up the parts in person & take care of the shipping.

This is my story with Premier Plastic Reproductions:

I ordered a 69 charger grille Thru phone contact with Angel Sexton on 3/28/08, This is over 6 months ago. She was very nice to talk to on the phone and said a grille would be on the way in 8-10 weeks. THE CATCH IS YOU CANNOT GET RETRIBUTION FROM YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY AFTER 60 DAYS. I have attached a photo of the credit card reciept. After many attempts thru June, July and Augest I finally got a response from ANGELA stateing my grille would be sent out the next week......Well here we are in October and NO GRILLE or any return calls from Angela or the company. Please note that if you GOOGLE premier Plastic Reproductions The first items that come up are the RIP OFF REPORTS filed by other customers.
