I FINALLY got my 69 Charger grille from Premier Plastics today! I never thought I'd get it. Very nice quality, sturdy plastic, it feels a little like rubber. Looks correct, but it doesn't have any of the original Chrysler part numbers or logo on any of the parts, but still very nice. The only problem with the grille is that it doesn't come with the metal mounts for the door to hang from, and I don't have an old grille to take it from. I want to thank everyone on the site who offered to help pickup the grille for me in Texas, I can't express how much I appreciate all your help. By the way, does anyone have old grille parts I could buy? John

There was an option, but I wanted it shipped faster. I've waited over three months for this one. I couldn't imaging how long it would of taken if I had it painted.   :brickwall:

They had said they were making two types and one was real flexible, so I would think thats the one you have.  Looks nice.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

It was $560 shipped to me in Ohio. I won there eBay listing at $450. But, to be honest, the whole process was a HUGE HEADACHE  :brickwall: Lots of excuses, not being able to contact them though email or phone..... Well eventually I did, but it took around a greater part of three months of headaches to get it. If you don't mind the loooong ship time, I'd say buy it. It's a real nice quality piece. I'm happy with it. But I've been talking to a current forum member who lives near Premier Plastics, and actually went to their shop to pick up his own grille. He was telling me that Premier Plastics is really a "Ma and Pa" out fit. They have a total of five people in the whole company, so when they get swamped with work, it's VERY hard to get a hold of some one. The price is reasonable, the quality is great, but customer service is horrible...... Completely understaffed. Customer service is a huge deal for growing a business, you don't have to go to college to realize that, but the lack of customer service a real threat of a companies longevity. They make a great product, I think if Premier stepped up their management and customer service, it would be great asset to the MoPar restoration community.  :Twocents:

There's a simple solution to their customer service problem. If they don't have one finished and ready to ship they shouldn't put one up for sale. End of story. :shruggy: It ain't rocket science. Once the part is purchased it should be at the buyer's door within a week.

Don't count on it, they don't seem to have any logical order to their shipments. I bought my Barracuda Grille in the month of October on ebay, & another person bought their Barracuda grille in November on ebay. I waited, waited, & waited, then saw a positive feedback left in December from the person who bought after me & I didn't get mine until late January. That means they got a grille before me even though they purchased it after. Maybe if you bought yours last week you might have gotten it before 69chargerboy....

Hey 69chargerboy, glad you like the grille, I was happy with the quality on mine.   :2thumbs:

Leaving part numbers off of re manufactured parts is usually done by an outfit who doesn't have permission from the OEM to reproduce a part. I am not a lawyer, nor do I pretend to be one but this is, or was anyhow, common practice when reproduction parts were made for the many pinball machines that I have restored over the years.

Frankly, I don't understand why leaving the part #s off would have this effect, but thats how those without permission used to reproduce parts.

YMMV

Well, here's a picture i found on this site. The first pic is from 1969chargerrtse's  " Correct color for 69 Charger grille using spray cans"  thread. You could see on his drivers side door,  the first two holes look identical to mine. So, Maybe I have to drill...... :shruggy:

Another one down. I received part of my grille today. Angela said it shipped in three boxes so hopefully the rest will come tomorrow. I bought it in January knowing that it would take a long time. My car is so far from being done I probably won't actually need it for another year anyway.

My grille also is the rubbery one. I think I would have preferred the more rigid one, but oh well.

I know it took a long time to ship, but I did not have too much trouble dealing with PP. Angela was very nice on the phone and always called me right back when I called her. If you need a grille and don't mind a long wait this isn't a bad deal. I bought it during the sale for $450 which is drastically cheaper than some of the restored grilles on Ebay going for $2500.

This reminds me of the old saying:

I agree with that... But I have a local company restoring my 69, I was promised from Angela 2 to 4 weeks before shippment. That was fine, that's what I told the the resto shop. But three months went by, and still no grille. That's where the problems started.  :icon_smile_cool:

But they sag over time.

I may have been out of the loop for a while but it was my understanding that Premier only makes the more flexible type. There have been many discussions around the web about their process for molding the plastic as well as the type of plastic used. I know of at least two other vendors who were planning to reproduce these grills but the correct tooling is very expensive and there's not really enough room in the parts market for multiple vendors of the same piece. Customers tend to "go cheap" so a more correct/accurate part at a higher price would likely sit on shelves and lose money. That's sad but it's the way things go. Which leads to the part numbers and other markings. In order to put those on any reproduction part the manufacturer must "license" it from Chrysler and pay them a fee for every part produced. This, of course, raises the manufacturing costs and, ultimately, the price for the consumer. Some people are willing to pay the premium for a more accurate reproduction but many aren't (see PG Classic vs BE&A for a good example of how some places handle this).
