I’m looking at buying a motor. The only problem is how to have it shipped from Ohio to Washington State. Does anybody here know of an economical way to ship heavy items like this?
THanks

You are starting out in the right direction asking here. Many of us buy, sell and run for cars all over the US.. With some luck and plenty of word of mouth and readers, you may find someone here crossing those paths..

There is an engine shop in Vegas that pays to ship motors here to Florida quite often. He pays about $300. per motor.. That's just to give you an idea of price..

Good luck..

Yellow Freight.... Also tell them you will pick it up at the dock most local to you.... .Know what that is prior so they dont have you run all over.

I have had things shipped a lot cheaper this way.

Thanks. I have another question......what do they require to ship a motor? Does it have to be straped to a pallet? Are the shippers willing to strap to a pallet when they pick it up if needed?
Thanks

Strapped to a pallet would be nice.  Is the block clean? No fluids.

I used yesteryearstractor.  They are willing and able people.  I was lucky and found someone that was returning without a load.  The downfall is that it will take a little more time investment in finding the right one.

The best way to ship an engine block (according to a shipper) is to have a crate built for the engine.  Then the shipper can stack lighter items on top of the crate.  Simple as it sounds it will keep the trailer clean and organized. :yesnod:

There is a fellow on this site that was just asking about shipping a motor last week.  His username is PistolPete.  He might be able to share some info.

How 'bout a crate from a, well, crate motor.  Call the local Dodge dealer, or maybe modify a Chivvy, Pherd crate.  I'm in Washington State, but my crate's still loaded, like me.  Ahhhhh, pain pills are cool. :blush2:

Shipping to Wa state will be expensive. I just shipped a pool slide and diving board from KY to there and it cost over $700 in freight. I get a pretty good discount too.

I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

a tip..if you, oryou happen to know someone who works in a larger warehouse or a bigger company....they will have corporate pricing , which will be much cheaper.....i work for an electrical supply warehouse ....we can ship via holland for about 1/3 of what it costs the general public
