Just got my radio back from Gary at Tayman Electric in Sarasota, Florida. Gary went though the radio took out all the old electronics and installed a 180w 4 Channel amp with an AUX IN for an Ipod and/or Satellite radio. Gary had a fast turn around time, I sent him the radio last Wednesday from Ohio and just got it back today. I can't wait to install it! I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks! I thought I'd share some pics. I'm glad I dont have to hack up my glove box to install a cd player. Thanks Gary!  :icon_smile_big:

Chris, It was $385 shipping included. I didn't ask Gary if he re-chromed, mine is really good shape. It may look expensive for the conversion, but how much would it be for a quality cd player/receiver and the hassle to cut the glove box or find another place to mount it? I wanted the "stock look" on the interior, I didn't want to have the cd player mounted under the dash, or in the glove box, plus I had to keep the glove box open to change volume and cd tracks. CD's are becoming obsolete anyway.....It's all digital, mP3 players, portable HD drives etc....

Gary doesn't install pre amp outs. That was the first thing I asked. So I'm going with a setup that Pete (autodynamics) told me he did to his 69 Charger with the radio conversion. Pete
used a Audio Control lC-7 which has a aux in and is a glorified hi low converter, which is the most important part of the system. It has aux in and sub control. Then from there he installed his amps and subs. I'm going to have a similar setup.

Chargerboy, have they just converter into a AM/FM or now it has any kind of jack to connect CD charger or something?
Can you hear cds or Mp3 with that radio now?

There is a guy here who has a cd charger connected to the original radio in his 81 Bronco.
For this it has installed a controller from Alpine i think, but it does need an AM/ FM band.It does not work with AM radios.

The total conversion was am/fm, 4 channel 180w amp, rca inputs for ipod, sat radio, etc... As soon as the radio has a signal going to it from an ipod it works. Hope that helped... :icon_smile_big: :2thumbs:

Thnx for posting this info. I have been literally beating my brains out :brickwall: :brickwall: trying to decide what to do with my '68 Coronet. I want some tunes but am totally turned off by mounting a unit under the dash or glove box. I have a new set of the the gauge/dashplaque's and it made me ill thinking about cutting up my new radio bezel.
He is definatley getting a call from me!!!! :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

No problem. I felt the same way about my Charger. I don't like the look with a new cd player in my dash. Pete (autodymamics) referred me to Tayman Electronics.

I sent my radio from the Coronet yesterday  :2thumbs: :2thumbs:  I'll post with updates.

Jesco

I run the mp3-player to a amp/booster (mount under passenger seat) but have som problem with top volume - I wish it was higher. Must be the the out put signal from the mp3-player... It's a very crappy player but it works.

The speakers is of 6x9 type.

Any proposal?
