IMO we're already paying essentially Socialism-level taxes by the time you count all the Federal & State & local stuff together.  But we're still only getting Capitalist-level services out of it.

Brock, you need to move as far away from SF as you can.  I think the BIG ONE is way overdue.  The city NEEDS to fall into the ocean or at least be buried under volcanic ash.  Bob
:iagree: Flee while you can! :o

Nothing wrong with San Francisco that can't be cured with a neutron bomb.

IMO my take as a native of nearly 51 years, is san fran. was fine up intill, 1968,.. then every nut job and their flakey friends moved here.
i wont be any more specific... it's just my predjudice...

Mike DC

In those kinds of cities, it's not actually the nutjobs that I mind so much.  I really mind the tons of wealthy boomers who support the ideas of the few nutjobs.

A bunch of street junkies wearing tie-dyed shirts & hemp necklaces  . . . those people aren't cute.  They are not unique local characters preserving the traditional indentity of the community in the face of modern commercial encroachement.  They're street junkies.

I asked a guy on moparts once about the whole hippie movement to California and he said the exact same thing.  He said the real hippie lifestyle died in the late 60's because thats around the time that it went commericial.

California was a real conservative up till the baby boomers came into power in the early 80's.  Its turning more and more Marxist every year now but soon the baby boomers that came up to power in the 80s will be dieing off in large numbers and things might swing back to the center / center right.  Things always swing one way then the other over time.

in new york we have a bullshit safety and emmisions inspection every year,if your car is a 93 or newer it must not have any lights on and the inspection station plugs into the diagnostic link under the dash-communicates dirrectly with albany and the state says if it passes or not, been like that for a few years, but if you have a battery go dead or light on,it takes as much as 300 miles for it to clear after repair! im all for clean air,but this is just another way to get the cash out of our pockets

Mike DC

I totally agree.  It's usually not about clean air, it's about making money off the public.

Catalytic converters, OBD II, warning lights, underhood inspections of aftermarket parts . . . what a load of crap.  If they actually wanted clean air, they would do a tailpipe sniffer test and nothing else about the vehicle's drivetrain would matter.
