"Medical student lands Louisiana State Record 359 lb Grouper
Thibodaux , Louisiana  13-Nov-2007 [JP]:  A medical student has caught a record-setting fish - a
Warsaw grouper weighing 359.1 pounds. The giant hauled in by J.J. Tabor of Thibodaux is 12 ounces above
the previous Louisiana state record, a state biologist confirmed.
"It's been cut down to fillets. The first fillet weighed 53 pounds," Tabor said.
He caught it near an oil rig 70 miles south of Port Fourchon, in 400 feet of water, but won't give a more specific description.
"It's J.J.'s secret," said Joey Rodrigue, a friend from Baton Rouge who joined Tabor and Tabor's father, John,
on the record-making trip. "I don't even know where I was. He blindfolds us on the way out."

I didn't believe it was real but I was wrong.  I have never heard of a Warsaw Grouper before.

We had a guy come talk to us at school that does underwater welding and he said that the vibrations attract them and they will push you out of the way. He said that he was working with a guy that hit one over the head with a wrench and the fish it bit onto his arm. He said it just squeezed his arm and let go and then left him alone. But still a fish like this latching on to your arm... I wouldn't like it.

I think he should of thrown it back, ...(I know I'll get a spankin' for saying this, )  so someone else can dream of getting "The Big One!"!! Kinda like the "Grumpier Old Men" movie!

Speaking of which...whoooo cant wait to get out there and catch some striped bass quite soon 

Honestly, at that dept by the time the fish reaches the surface, he's already dead. But if that was not the case...i would never keep a fish that size out of sheer respect for the thing
