Just wondering what the best fluid for out 727s are. Im running ATF+3 in mine and was wondering if that was ok, and/or if there is anything better out there. I dont know if it helps or matters but it has a TCI 2400 stall with a Cheetah Turbo Action valve body..thanks

There is nothing wrong with the fluids your using. But adding a  good tranny cooler will make more of a difference in keeping your tranny alive.

I would never run a cheeter valve body without a cooler they make alot of extra heat get yours self a cooler and for fluid I fact spec it works

When I asked Cope Racing Transmissions what fluid to use in the new 727 they shipped me, they recommended Dexron2-Mercon 3 for the street and, for a full face car, Type F. Do not use a no name off the wall fluid. He specifically recommended Penzoil, Castrol, and Quaker State.

Every 20 degrees you lower the transmission temperature will double it's life.

I've been using Dexron/Mercon in mine.  :shruggy:

So, pretty much any conventional transmission fluid will work, personal preference?

It doesn't even have to be "conventional", one builder used to recommend AW-32 hydraulic fluid and others swear by John Deere Hy-Gard transmission fluid.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Type F sounds good in my street car. Any idea how many quarts for a 727 with an oversized pan from 440 source?

I like the type F, but moreso when using Red Clutchs and Cintered steels in the trans when rebuilding, even for the street.
Only wimps wear Bowties !

Name brand dextron mercon. Type f makes mine shift a little firmer. Both work fine. Trans cooler is you best freind.

Total capacity for a dry fill depends on pan depth, converter size and cooler type/size. With a stock pan and 12" converter it takes about 9 quarts, add two for the deep pan and another one/two for the cooler.
