This is the same bondo bucket everyone was upset about when i posted a picture of it before. There's a picture in another mag of the taillights falling out of this thing as it's leaving the ramp.

I was there when they did that jump.  Nasty landing but it didn't roll.

Ironically, the car's center cabin was rollcaged so well that both doors still opened & shut fine after the wreck.

QuoteLooks like the pass side quarter had issues before the jump.

Rusted out sheetmetal everywhere + 1/4-ton of trunk ballast + steep launch ramp @ 65 mph =  bent unibody by the time it gets into the air.

terrible one

I think it's photoshopped from a picture of a General on a dirt road. If you look inside the cabin it appears to be dirt/dust from such a scenario, and it really sticks out compared to the coloration outside the car.

That car had been on Ebay several times during the couple years before it got jumped.  The shop that jumped it was just willing to pay way more than anyone else, plain & simple.

HLPAG ended up with the car afterward.  A while later they sold it in restored condition.

If you believe their word, they straightened out the same body shell.    :eyes:

JMF

Anyone got an close up pics of these bondo buckets they jump?

1969chargerrtse

This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Mike DC

Sorry, I'm not much of a picture taker these days.

Is there something specific you wanna know about it?

JMF

Just was interested to see what kind of condition these cars are in before being jumped

pettyfan43

I was at Dukesfest 06 In Nashville. Believe me when I tell ya, the car they jumped there was USED UP. As far as parts, the bumpers were warped ALL of the panes were bent/bondo'd and the grille was pieced together from pieces of broken ones, with the center piece made from a piece of metal.

Nothing good was lost in that car, I would think most of them are in about the same shape.

I agree. Plus where is the driver? Seems like the Lee's shadow doesn't line up with shadows cast by people in the crowd some of which aren't even looking in the right direction.  :Twocents:
Malicious, vindictive, spiteful, cynical, pessimistic, sarcastic, & antagonistic. And those are my good traits!

I personally dont care if the car was a p.o.s that's just plain stupid and i still say there are parts that could be used from it

::)       Guys, I was in the crowd, standing about 30 feet away from that shot, at that exact moment.  It's a real shot.

Look hard at the quarter-skin buckling -  the car wasn't bent like that until it hit the ramp at full speed.

Charger_Fan

I'm just glad I'm not the driver. That picture makes my body hurt. :icon_smile_tongue:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Mike DC

Yeah, landing is not a fun part of the process from what I understand.  Even the takeoffs are pretty violent.

The driver was fine after this jump though.  It makes you sore the next day like if you took a hard tackle playing football or something, but usually nothing specific gets broken.

I've been told that landing onto dirt is actually harsher than landing onto asphalt.  The softer surfaces "bite" more; they scrub more speed off the car's forward motion right at impact.  Hitting pavement doesn't slow down the car's forward motion as much.
