alright, so my starter is giving me problems...earlier i had to start the car by doing the "tapping the starter" and it worked.

but i must get it replaced.
is this something complicated, that i have to take it to the shop for or is it something that i could change in a few hours? do i need to order a particular part or is it something i can roll in to any car parts store and get?

just curious, i'm still all new to this so is why i'm asking.
thanks!

I like using the mini starters, here's one of the many posts about them, you can do a search and find the rest.

It's just 2 bolts and the wires, easy. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FIRST though. If you decide on the mini starter, Ebay has the best prices that I've seen.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

Easy to do yourself, go to any parts store or go with the mini stater, but MAKE SURE you remove the positive Battery cable before you work on removing the starter. :yesnod:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Put new starter on my 87 D350 one ton, NAPA has two different ones. Looks just like big block, but one is about 1.5 inches shorter & is listed for 440. Also is lighter, do not know if it would work wity headers but never know. :shruggy:
