James Bond star Daniel Craig has put the superspy's womanizing image in doubt after admitting he would love 007 to have a same-sex fling.

The British hunk, who is currently filming the hit franchise's latest outing Quantum Of Solace, believes it's time studio bosses modernized the macho role, urging them to turn the secret agent gay.

And the 40-year-old doesn't think the move will damage the legendary lothario's hardman reputation, insisting fans won't be put off by a Bond who prefers boys.

He says, "Why not? I think in this day and age, fans would have accepted it. No one would bat an eyelid."

Now I know why he was laughing during the torture scene in that last movie, when he was getting his nutz worked over by the bad guy...he was getting his jollies!

Yeah, wrong franchise for this idea.  James Bond has spent too much of the last 40 years going strictly female. 



I can see what Daniel Craig is getting at; he's trying to push James Bond farther back towards the cutting edge of the culture again (like where it originally was in the 1950s novels).  Homosexuality has definitely traveled light-years closer to acceptance since the 1950s-60s.

But I think doing this right now would just be provoking a reaction for the sake of it.  Once the shock-value wears off, I still don't think it would seem at home with the character in too many people's minds.  Even though a lot of the public might not be so knee-jerk averse to the idea in a different franchise.
