68 charger grill headlight doors , any ideas to change to electric??

hello i am restoring/ modifing a 68 charger, its  a 318 car (at presant), i was after any ideas on the grill light doors, i would like to get rid of the vacuum set up?  has any one done this  :shruggy: what did they do, or is there another  model vehicle i could get the parts from to make the door work when i turn the lights on, any info would be appreciated, i am in aus and not sure of what other models had what to open there light doors, thank you

That sure would be a lot of work towards a mechanically inferior solution. What exactly do you believe the benefit would be? You can't ask for a more trouble-free system than what's already there. I suppose you could rig a power window motor to a threaded shaft, and put momentary switches at both ends of travel hooked to a relay bank, though.

you can use vacuum and have a new setup.  member daytonalo (and yes, some will say he's a "member" or another euphamism for that! just kidding larry)  did it using some GM vacuum pods.  he did it for a daytona clone, and also made one for member bigblocksam.  pm either one.  70 chargers might have used electrics on doors/grill with the same architecture, so that could be an option too.

68-69 and 70 cover setups are not even in the same ballpark.  I would highly recommend fixing whatever is leaking in the vacuum system and calling it a day.
