My Dodge dealer emailed the VIN # to the Challenger I order last year. The last four numbers are 0612 I'm not sure but looks like no. 612 of 6500? :scratchchin: Soon to have a production date! :drool5:

I plan on getting a 2010 late next year, as I want the SRT with the manual transmission.

Although I did buy my 1988 Mustang GT new off the floor, I still think it will be cool to actually buy a NEW muscle car.  Something I was too young to do the first time around.  (I was 11 in 1972, a  year many will argue was the end of the true muscle car era, although they still had Mach 1s, Challengers, Cudas and AMXs, but you know what I mean).

Congrats on stepping out and putting your money where your mouth is.  Unlike our brothers in the Pontiac camp that flaked out on buying the GTO (oh, it's too plain! how amazing people forget how plain a 1964 Tempest was, but oh well) you are actually BUYING one.  I wonder how many guys that swore they will buy the new Camaro will actually pony up and do it, or will they have some mealy mouthed excuse as to why the car "isn't good enough".

Your mistake on mentioning your purchase here is that we all expect complete pictures, maybe a video, and answering alot of stupid questions from me, such as "is there a build sheet under the back seat?"!!!!!

;)

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

How about the dealer mark up? I'm hearing visious rumors about a $40k mark up, making the Challenger a $90k car.
"Let me explain something to you, um i am not Mr. Lebowski, you're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the dude, so that's what you call me. That or his dudeness, or duder, or you know, el duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing."

NMike

have they given you a price along with the VIN yet?

Hmmm, I would imagine if you put a deposit down on a $45k car, they are obligated to sell it to you at that price, although, I don't know what the fine print on that document says.

I don't think that kind of markup would last long.  These are still niche market cars.  As I stated before, there are alot more people stating "I'm gonna get me one of those" than people actually putting down deposits.

Although, I have seen stupid things happen.  Remember when the Mazda Miata came out?  They were like $15K base if I remember, and the dealers sold the first few for $30k plus.  Three months later, the big shipments came in and the price went right back down.  So I laughed at the pure idiots who threw away $15,000 on a throwaway sports car, just so that they could say they had the first ones.  As far as I know however, those were walk in clients and not people who had pre-ordered.

I would be interested in what keepat's deposit paperwork states.  Does it say something horrific like "deposit will be applied towards prevailing price of automobile at time of delivery"?.  That would be a major ouch.

Of course, the difference here is that even though all of the people saying they want one may not have put money down, there have been more deposits made than there are going to be cars built.  So if a dealer is only getting one and he's in a hot market and two guys are standing there wanting the car, guess what...

Based on the Allpar discussion, the "2009" production starts in July. Prices may drop quicker than we may think once the 2nd year production hits full swing.

I order hemi orange and all 3options from a customer of mine who bought a yacht from the marina I work at. We have sold a lot of boats to a lot of different car dealer up & down the east coast. Most sold cars I did not like or I they did not offer to sell me a car. But this one customer was great to work with and offered to sell me any car I would like any time. So I tried to buy my GT 500 from him but his Ford dealership was sold out and so I bought a GT 500 from another dealer. Two days after I picked up my GT 500 he called me to say Ford would build him a GT 500 and that I could buy it. :slap: He told Ford it was for his personal car.

When I called him about the Challenger he put me at the front of the list for his 1st and only 08 Challenger. :coolgleamA: This car I will get at MSRP $41,995.00 no mark-up He also help me with a new GMC ¾ ton diesel pickup for my bother at below dealer cost and all the rebates! He is a great customer and a better friend! :2thumbs:

Thanks all for your comments! I will post more info as I get it!

Now that's the kind of friend you need in the car business.  If he is as up front in the way he deals with all of his customers it's little wonder he's seen the success that gives him more than one brand of dealership.

Anybody hear of any getting delivered yet?    Didn't see anything on Moparts or Challengerforums...

Somebody on here mentioned picking up a load of them at the Brampton plant not too long ago so they must be delivering them somewhere?  Pre-production cars going for tests maybe?  :shruggy:
