I thought everyone here might like to see these. This was the 3rd built built and the 1st bird released to the general public for sale.
Vitamin C orange car, 6 pack console auto. It belongs  to a good  friend of mine and it's been patiently and quitely waiting it's  turn in line for a ground up restoration. Well it looks like the time may come either later this year or early next. He's done numerous cars over the years and keeps putting this one on the back burner. I have my fingers crossed that it's time has finally arrived.

It's been sitting in the same spot for nearly 15 years impersonating a shelf. Waiting, waiting, waiting.
Enjoy.

Okay, you're gonna tell me where dis car is at, or else I'ma gonna send Vinnie and Guido over to have a little talk wit your friends kneecaps. :slap:

I'm from NJ , let me know if you need a Crew to handle this task !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill,

Great looking car there. Does it really need a complete restoration, or just a good going through? Is that origional paint on the car still?

Don't you go and tell me that car is close to the 500 you showed me?

gtx6970

Yes I think it's original paint.(  But I'm not 100% sure )  I do know it's all original otherwise though. The car had dealer intsalled AIR put on it in the early 70's ( thats WHY the current owner bought it when he did) All matching numbers drivetrain . It doesn't really need a major resto, and actually with just going thru the brake and fuel system from sitting for all this time,  it could be made driveable again. But seats are showing there age, paint is dull and thin in spots, decals are cracking, etc etc. He's been gathering up NOS parts for the car for about the 20 years and plans to restore it soon,,,, finally.

And Danny,
It's about 10 or 15 minutes at most ( if that come to think of it ) from the hemi 500 we looked at last fall

Earliest known history it was in Texas , then Marvin Hughes owned it , he sold it to someone in the upper part of Florida where a friend of mine bought it then sold it to the current owner in the early 80's. Currently in south western Ohio

wingfan

So this one would be #3 on the nascar list, right?  Hughes also owned a Petty Blue 4spd.  He sold it in the 1980's.

69_500

Hey Bill,

Speaking of the HEMI 500, I'm thinking of making a trip down to look at it again here in a few weeks. I'm going to contact the owner of it again and see if its a good weekend for him. Not sure if you have looked at it any more than the one time I was there. I took a ton of pics of it that day, but man the more I think of it, the more I wish I had taken about 500 more.

Troy,
Doubt it. He's already turned down a EXTREMELY well done 1969 R6 red hemi superbee as a straight across trade for the bird the way it sits

Jewels ? maybe ! Lets just say it's sitting in good company. From more than just Mopar

Hidden? absolutely

Is there some kind of document showing that this was the first Superbird sold to the public?  BTW I've read that #1920 on the nascar list is the last one made (V)172609
