i got the chrome one from them too, and yes the "o" ring is flimsy i have to watch i don't lose it whenever i pull it out...

The O ring is .750" OD by .100" thick, any hardware store should have it.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I got the same dipstick from yearone last summer it didn't have an o-ring either but the autoparts store had it for $0.25    I do suggest you paint the "shinny dipstick tube"  because it won't be shinny for long.  Mine got coated with surface rust from condensation. If you don't want to paint it, just spray some clear coat on it to keep the shinny look.  Would have saved me some time if I did that first.

Don't use any of those dipsticks where the dipstick itself is chrome plated. I was looking inside a guys engine, and we discovered the spun bearing was caused by the chrome plating coming off the chrome plated dipstick. It was everywhere. $8 dipstick caused over $1000 in damage.

This is the only type of seal I've seen for trans dipsticks. Was the o-ring style just used on certain years?
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

i got a chrome one for my  engine oil, but i ground the chrome off where it goes into the block,it was a hair to thick to fit properly, and i worried that the chrome would flake off also-just as an fyi
