Unless this guy is a professional bodyman/painter what the hell does he know. Comments from clueless people irritate me. Tell him to point out this non existant bondo to you, if not there he can't & he's full of bullsh*t. I'd confront him politely on comment as it's obvious it bothers you & only way to move on is to get it over with. Your car looks fine to me. LEON.

I'm finally getting over it anyway.  I had friend come up over the weekend and we were both laughing are butts off over the comment as it is so obvious to see looking at the car how absolutely pin straight perfect the body work and panels are.  Has to be a weird joke or he is really dumb and blind.  It bothered me most on a personal level because I felt betrayed by someone talking negative behind my back, but I've already told several people at work, that work with him so I'll get the answer and post it eventually.

Have you ever talked to him?
Nope, I haven't talked to him, just admired his killer car collection from year to year. :drool5:
That sucks that some opinionated windbags have soured him from showing off his cars. I suppose I don't blame him though, it would definitely be a downer to make the effort to bring all those cars to a show & have a bunch of negative crap thrown his way.

I have 3 friends that have stopped taking their cars to local shows here. Spend a whole day detailing a car for the show only to have some A$$ insult it. It's a shame these cars wont be on display for others to enjoy anymore.

Jealousy, Jealousy, Jealousy! You also found out that your friend COULD be an a**hole and likes to play games. I would talk to him to see if he did in fact say those things and to confirm your feeling about him. Like another poster said, good thing you found out now before you really needed a friend. That's one reason I hate people! LOL... The only one that loves me is my dog!

I understand these feelings and feel the same way.. I did the show scene in the mid 80's.  Now I go to a cruise at night here and there and split early.  As for the comment about my car, I think I have it figured out and if anyone really wants to know , PM me.

QuoteI had a friend stop by when I was first Pulling out my engine after it snapped a rod.  I just talked to him today and we have never had any issues.  What hurt me was someone told me today that he told some others in my field ( some I don't care for ) that my car may look good in the garage but outside you'll see it's all bondo.  I was shocked!!  I paid 30 grand for this car and the biggest selling factor was it was listed as a rust free CA car.  There is a little 1" x 8" spot on the lower back window, but if you look up under the trunk it's all steel.  Fenders are rust free, all the original panels are there including the inner fender wells, floors , trunk, etc..  The body shop that looked at the torn frame rails ( shipping issue ) were blown away on how straight the panels were?  My Boss that never comments much said the body was awesome.  WTF!   Really really bothered me.  My best friend today told me maybe, just maybe he told my enemies that for some sick game reason?  I just don't get it?   Why do people play mental games?  Mean people  suck. down

What were you having a few beers when you wrote that?  Well, that may be you.  But some of us are caring people and don't go around back stabbing friends.  For anyone to say being betrayed isn't painful must not know the meaning or honor to have close friends.  Hauling off is more immature and foolish than confronting and stopping it as an adult.  Maybe I should scream at him " you bitch and scratch him and pull his out? ( girl washroom reactions )"  I wouldn't give that advise to my children and it's not in the manner I work.  His lost.
You know there's 3 pages of responses here and many stories of people hurt by negative comments or back stabbing, but just you've responded harsh and with a negative tone.  I see you're from Canada and I know it's cold up there, but not that cold?  Ron, where's the love?  Let's see your sensitive side.  Show the Love, some sweetness Big Sugar.  :icon_smile_big:

How do you know me? Spill the beans! My first car was a 1969 Dodge Charger that I owned for exactly one year. I had to get rid of it because I was a 17 year old who made minimum wage and didn't earn enough to build it into the car of my dreams. I will own another someday, though I may have to hit the lottery first. I didn't know they were this expensive!

Yeah, Charger prices are sure crazy these days. The prices being the way they are, is taking the fun out of the hobby for some folks. Looking back, I bet you're really kicking yourself for selling yours way back when, huh? ;D

Hissing Cobra

Ah, o.k.  :2thumbs: Yeah, I'm kicking myself for selling it but the reality of the situation at that time was this: I didn't have two dimes in my pocket to rub together! I was 16 when I bought it and when I got my license on my 17th birthday, I got to drive it by myself for the first time. Reliability became an issue as the brakes soon were going to the floor, the tires were really worn, the carb needed to be replaced and then the timing chain broke. It also didn't help that my mom drove it to work one day and someone backed into the passenger side door, effectively caving it in. All of this was too much for me to fix when I was only making $3.75 per hour and working after school - even though I was working 28 hours per week. I relented and finally sold it. I used the money to buy a brand new Ford Escort (my uncle co-signed the loan and I made the $125.00 monthly payments on a 5 year note). I never lost my love for them though and can't wait until I own another.

No wonder your response was just punch him out.  Man you're big.  Trust me I'm over it.  When people you trust hurt you, it hurts.  I wrote about it, we all shared stories, and I know what I know and have moved on.  You wrote, I responded.   Life's to short to let other people drag you down.  I've been blessed with a great Life, I have a wonderful wife and children, and so far were all healthy and happy.  Doesn't mean you don't share what you've learned or experienced?  That's one of the beauties of these forums, I really enjoyed and connected to many of these stories written here.  But you know what, I still ain't seeing the Love? Nice chattin with you though.  As for my car, I plan on jumping in and moving on real soon.  Just have to finish installing the engine.  :nixon:
