what the hell will cause this to move? my friend has a 440,almost the same build as mine, and he told me his distributor drive moved, causing his timing to get all frigged up and then the car wouldnt start, aparently only took him a hour or so to move it back into place,so how do you do it?he is in ohio, and im in new york so i couldnt watch to learn

Just a guess but the intermediate shaft is pressed into the gear and they've been known to spin, especially with high oil pressure. Performance shafts are pressed and pinned.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

It takes about 15 minutes or less to swap a dizzy drive with the good one.     Marking the dizzy and the rotor location with a sharpie helps with the initial timing on startup.

Andy, the MP hardened tip intermediate shaft is P3571071 and available through any Mopar dealer or at Summit, Mancini...etc  :2thumbs:

BTW, this piece has the pinned distributor gear as well as the hardened tip which can break with HV oilpumps and/or high speed engine operation. I use them in all warmed up builds.  :yesnod:

The "hardened tip" is somewhat of a misnomer, both the factory and the HP tips are hardened to the same Rockwell hardness; the strength in the HP shaft is due to the increased radius where the round shaft transitions to the hex drive.
